Countdown to Coherence: A Spiritual Journey Toward a Scientific Theory of Everything

Rate this book
Inspired by her own near-death experience and its incredible aftermath, a leading spiritual writer explores the nature of the universe and its rich possibilities for human development. Using cutting-edge scientific and spiritual evidence, Hazel Counteney examines the growing belief that our world is nothing but a holographic projection, and that we are biological computers operating inside a preprogrammed simulator.

I read this to see what the woo brigade are up to - a compendium of utter nonsense that would appeal only to the scientific illiterate and highly gullible. Sure, there are many unintentional belly laughs along the way (e.g thymus thump) from the time travelers, higher frequency beings and other associated nut jobs she interviews along the way. But the thing is, it’s not harmless. The appalling advice given by one of her experts (p136) that a mother with two sons (one Aspergers, the other autistic and blind) being told her sons in a previous life were Nazis and had planned this lifetime to learn the value of truthful communication. And she agreed to be their mother to teach her soul the art of patience. If only I believed in a hell so this person could rot in it. Anyway, how did I know it was on p136? Hazel put the word Nazis in the index at the back. FFS.

Years ago, this was one of the books that had a lot of clues to my previous searches. Simply written overview of things that otherwise might not seem as simple for some (probably comes from the author's background). One of the books I highly recommend to people around me - might be an answer to those at the very beginning of the Holographic Universe journey.

Some interesting ideas here but a large part of it struck me as a convoluted mix of contradictory thoughts. For instance, in one portion of the book Courteney bashes author /entrepreneur Joe Vitale for saying that everything that is around you, you attract... yet she applauds "The Miracle Man" Morris Goodman for saying "Man becomes what he thinks about" (which is actually a quote commonly attributed to Buddha)or the "myriad scientists" who have told her that "whatever the majority of our thoughts contain is what we eventually magnetize into our lives. Literally." It's the same face!

And her "Atonement = At-one-ment" had me thinking of The Love Guru "Intimacy = Into Me I See... TM" X))

Ms. Courteney has written a book/memoir about her spiritual evolution while also interviewing scientists, psychologists, etc. at the cutting edge of consciousness science. Many of the ideas she presented I'm already familiar with but I enjoyed her conversational presentation. Some of the concepts can make your brain hurt but I felt she shared them in an easy-to-grasp fashion.

Fascinating studies and interviews in a well-written book with great flow. It was recommended to me and I now recommend it to others.
