All about little ol' me? Hmm. Okay, the normal stuff first. I currently live in the Midwest near Detroit, Michigan with my husband and two sons who are ten and seven years old. All three keep me on my toes. I work in the automotive industry making sure all the parts inside the car look pretty along with handling all the paperwork that goes along with that (you'd be amazed at how much there is!).
Not so normal stuff now. I am an eclectic soul, having lived in three out of the four corners of the United States. I can count as personal friends people from many walks of life (dare I say, some are family too?). I think this is what allows me to see past the things that make us different to the things that make us alike. Hence, I am a person who will accept anyone for what they are, almost to a fault sometimes.
I love angst (as you very well know if you've read one of my stories). I adore digging into an issue, touching on it and those people it effects, and then giving it a happily-ever-after. Research is probably one of my favorite parts of writing. Finding out new facts, meeting new people while I do that…asking them questions they would never expect.
The first half was good, and if the whole book was like that I would give it 3 stars. BUT the other half was way much better. And I really liked it. As for the ending, there's no other way to say this: it was beautiful.
Check out my status updates if you want to read some quotes from this book, but that would be spoiler, so it’s up to you.
Sweet, romantic story with a small dose of angst. All in all, an enjoyable read.
For someone in the closet, said cowboy practically growled at anyone who came near the guy the minute he saw him, refused to let him go home with his friend whom he came to see, was acting all jealous at the bar and it was obvious to anyone who came near he had the hots for the guy. Much have been a clear glass closet. I also am not a fan of the keeping secrets which to anyone with half a brain come across as negative, but the person doing it thinks it's a good surprise. So on the whole... it didn't quite connect for me. Not bad but not my fave.
‘Jack’s Way’ is as infuriating as it is delightful. This story about two utterly stubborn men, both wounded by their pasts, coming together and butting heads had me mad at them most of the time, but I also felt their need for love and acceptance very clearly. If only they had admitted it to themselves a little sooner.
Ben is, on the surface, less affected by what has happened to him. But deep down, he doubts his ability to find a decent man, one who won’t use and discard him. In best ‘macho’ fashion he manages to hurt himself as much as Jack by not realizing what is going on, never mind talking to Jack about it.
Jack is desperately afraid he will be left behind, and this fear goes deep as it originates in his past. I wasn’t surprised that he has issues to open up. He manages to see signs of impending doom in everything, whether it is an unexpected revelation from Ben’s old friend or Ben’s secretive behaviour a few weeks into his visit. Ultimately, knowing that Ben will want to return ‘back East’ is what bothers Jack the most.
If you like reading stories about macho cowboys and stubborn city guys who but heads to see who can hold out longer, and are ready to hang on until the very last moment for a resolution, you will probably enjoy this book. I thought it was a nice variation on the cowboy theme and the characters made it come alive for me.

Um, much as I would have liked to give this a higher rating, it really didn't do much for me. Unfortunately, it was spoiled for me by an insta-love scenario and an unrealistic/unsuccessful attempt of D/s in the bedroom. I also thought a couple of plot threads were either finished too hastily, or were incomplete. In particular, a plot-thread concerning Ben's friend Matt was started but not carried through. As I said, I'd hoped to rate this higher but it really didn't make the grade for me.
The first half of this book is more like a 2.5-3 but the second half is a 4-4.5 so I met in the middle and gave it a 4. The first half is confusing and leaves important topics unfinished. The relationship between the couple in the first half is completely different from the relationship in the second half. One thing that remained great from beginning to end was the sex! Their sex life was hot and exciting and unpredictable from start to finish! Overall it was a pretty ok book :)
The cover is perfect...and I liked the story, could´ve been a bit longer so we could get to know the boys better...maybe more horse stuff...but it was nice...
Oh heck! I was doing really well until that last scene...now I can hardly see through my tears to write this. Sweet, lovely story that will melt your heart at the end.
