Does anyone know what people in North Las Vegas do after a ball game? They normally go to Poker Palace and get the All you can Eat Spaghetti special for $3.99. That’s right $3.99!!!! For that price you can get good poisoning and possible trip to the hospital. That my friends is what North Las Vegas is all about! God Bless!

While my opinion of many of these VERY short books hasn't changed, I do like this a little since
1. the art is very cute, and
2. it follows a complete story, vs. "a dog runs around." (To be fair, this one has more than 8 pages despite a similar amount of language content.)

That said, I don't know if this is much better than for use as a teaching aid. I can't imagine any younger readers in particular falling in love with characters that appear only in one book with not a lot of time to get to know any of them, especially when none of them are named. At least with longer books like Leo the Lop, there's time for readers to connect with the characters on a deeper level than "I played in a ball game."

This is a great book for beginning readers. It's a very short story about a baseball game, but we really enjoyed the cards that were part of the book. We used the cards to put together the sentences in the story as well as other fun sentences. And we laughed at the illustrations in the back of the book that depict alternate meanings of words like "plate, slide, and tied." It's a helpful book when working with younger children who are just learning to read.
