V ictims of a new killer found drowned in mysterious ways. An ex-con FBI agent unwilling to play by the rules. A killer who will stop at nothing….

“A masterpiece of thriller and mystery.”
—Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (re Once Gone)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

FOREVER is book #5 in a long-anticipated new series by #1 bestseller and USA Today bestselling author Blake Pierce, whose bestseller Once Gone (a free download) has received over 7,000 five star ratings and reviews.

Superstar FBI Agent Morgan Cross was at the height of her career when she was framed, wrongly imprisoned, and sent to do 10 hard years in prison. Finally exonerated and set free, Morgan emerges from jail as a changed person—hardened, ruthless, closed off to the world, and unsure how to start again. When the FBI comes knocking, desperately needing Morgan to return and hunt down a killer who seems to be obsessed with drowning, Morgan is torn.

Morgan is not the same person, no longer willing to play by the rules, and will stop at nothing this time. In a non-stop thriller, it will be a deadly cat and mouse chase between a diabolical killer and an ex-con FBI agent who has nothing left to lose—with a new victim’s fate riding on it all.

A page-turning and harrowing crime thriller featuring a brilliant and tortured FBI agent, the Morgan Cross series is a riveting mystery, packed with non-stop action, suspense, twists and turns, revelations, and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you flipping pages late into the night. Fans of Rachel Caine, Teresa Driscoll and Robert Dugoni are sure to fall in love.

Future books in the series will be available soon!

The last 2 books have overused words to the point that it’s distracting (example: “cacophony”). Also distracting - the narrator reading “asterisk asterisk asterisk.”

There seems to be zero editing process - the emotions of the characters swing back and forth from sentence to sentence so often that you don’t know what anyone’s mindset is…this series has been that way since book 1, but it’s getting worse by the book. Something tells me this author hasn’t set out to create a full cast of unreliable narrators and characters, and this isn’t a style choice. I’m using the term “author” loosely since I’m not convinced an actual person is writing 100% of the book.

I really wonder about this author - the change in style of writing really makes me think it’s AI written. Lost track of the number of times cacophony was used. Everything, every time was a cacophony.

Add to that the use of AI generated narrator, that reads punctuation, typos, etc.

It seems very disrespectful to real authors, narrators and readers that buy the books.

This is another series that started with so much potential, yet has become a frustrating letdown. Words are repeated incessantly, the main characters are annoying, the thought processes are no longer clear, and the underlying themes are being drug out way too long. It feels like these books may be written by AI and not an actual writer (or an editor.). I’m undecided if I will read the last 2 books. I’m very disappointed and likely won’t read anything else by this author.

As always I really enjoyed the story. I enjoy the character development and plot. I am however highly disappointed with the editing of these books. A characters eyes go from blue to green back to blue, a dog goes from male to female back to male and a house becomes an apartment and back to a house. These are just examples... in one paragraph a man abducted two women a blonde, brunette and a redhead... hmmm 🤔 There are far too many mistakes to be forgivable as it takes away from the enjoyment of the read. I do recommend this book(s) as the stories are good if you can overlook these things and the extreme repetetiveness of some of the verbiage being used. "Cacophony, white knuckles, digging nails into palms etc.." enough already!

I totally agree with the other comments about the annoying over use of words like “cacophony”. It also seems like Morgan is continuously “steeling” herself for some challenge or another.

In one of the chapters the male dog, Skunk, is referred to as “she”. However, Derik’s eyes are back to being blue, having been green in the previous book.

A bit of proofreading and doing something to tighten up how the events unfold would help immensely.

Unfortunately, I purchased several more books in the series, so I’ll just tough it out.

This is one of those books when you start reading it you just want to know how will it end. It grabs the reader's attention, it's fast-paced and Morgan Cross is feeling more divided and troubled than ever. Her past is unfolding and affecting her present life, who is to trust? Good entertainment!
I thank Ms. Pierce for this ARC.

Nice

The stories are getting better as they go along. Derek needs to stay with her. Muller needs to come clean and give Morgan some peace in her life.

So I thought it was a dolphin tank then on page 41 it said a shark tank. The Morgan Cross saga about who was responsible for her going to prison is a long drawn out story.
