32C That's Me by Higgins, Chris (2010) Paperback

Rate this book
Jess seems to have it all. She has a gorgeous boyfriend, Muggs, landed the lead in the school play, and her best friend Ali will always stick by her. She even gets on well with her older sister! Then her mum is diagnosed with breast cancer and Jess's world is turned upside down. No one seems to understand what she's going through. Muggs is too busy with the play, her dad is never around to talk to and all of a sudden Ali is avoiding her. Jess soon starts to realize that maybe having it all isn't what really matters and maybe the people you thought you could depend on aren't the ones to trust. A fantastic and touching debut from Chris Higgins, undoubtedly a new talent who identifies exactly where teenagers are coming from. Writing to rival the likes of Jacqueline Wilson and Cathy Cassidy, Chris Higgins tackles genuine teen issues with confidence and her wise sensibility, and writes in an authentic first person narrative to create strong teen protagonists.

wowwww!! Jess's mum has gone through a lot of things. she discover she has breast cancer. Jess is the lead in the school play playing lady Macbeth. her boyfriend is Macbeth how cool is that. but things turn upside down . it was said that whomever is lady Macbeth their lives is gone mad. which is exactly true. mum has got cancer. dad has and affairs with muss Taylor. Ali has an affair at the beach with Jess's boyfriend. well things aren't the same anymore. they are still friends but she cant believe what has happened. Jess will never trust Ali again. but you know what the worst thing is? dad moves in with miss Taylor. such a creep soo dumb and sad on Jess's mum.this book made me upset i love Chris Higgins books!! what a sad ending.

I remember reading this book when I was younger and enjoying it but it didn't resonate with me quite so much as it did now. A lot of things have happened in my own life that have made me connect with this book on almost all levels, and I think it is very well written in expressing all of the issues that this book touches on excellently. I also think it is very important for a book aimed at younger people like this to show a reality that isn't perfect, where 14 year olds drink and have sex, because, let's face it, that is what happens and it shouldn't be ignored or not spoken about. I think this book is very good at not portraying these characters as too innocent or immature to understand what is happening which some books can do.

I would definitely recommend this book! Reading it as a teenager, I had no expectations but I remember it being heart-felt and knowing myself, I may have shed a tear or two. I would most definitely re-read this book. If you want something light, easy to follow and understand this is the book for you!

I like this book but I don't like the fact that it has swearing in it and some parts are rude and just wrong.

After reading this book I came to the conclusion that it was just an average read. Yes, it was entertaining but I didn't find myself captivated by the story. The storyline seemed to be quite predictable and the characters frustrated me. I thought it was relatable for teenage girls, so that's the audience I'd recommend this to, and dealt with some real life dilemmas very well! :)

A gripping story about how Jess' life can turn from being perfect into a tragic mess in the space of a day. We follow Jess through the year as she has to deal with her life falling apart. We follow Jess' story and the book makes the reader want to find out if everything will be alright in the end.

It's good. This was a book I read when I was younger and I re-read it for the sake of it so there's not much to say. It's not very action-packed or compelling but as a child, I would've liked it.
