Rebecca Winters, born Rebecca Brown Burton, was the author of over 175 romance novels published with Harlequin, delighting readers worldwide for more than 35 years. Her stories, translated into many languages, have sold nearly thirty million copies. A French teacher turned novelist, she combined her love of language, family, and storytelling into a remarkable literary legacy.
I have been meaning to review this one for a while, but was rendered speechless by the way this story was resolved. However, a friend's review of another Rebecca Winters classic prompted me to take the plunge.
Winters isn't really a dynamic writer -- there is often some tedium to her prose and I couldn't say there is a lot of passion/chemistry, but DAYUM can that woman deliver the crazy. Either one star for ridiculous cheesiness, or five stars for complete OTT-ness when it counts. Either way, I can't imagine not having a strong reaction to this book. (If you want to cheat, read the last 20 or so pages.)
4 1/2 Stars! ~ Imagine, while beneath the ocean's surface, you spy a sight that can't possibly be real. That's what happened to Andrew, only he caught it on video and much to his surprise when he viewed the tape, he really had seen a mermaid! Lindsay is a woman afraid of being smothered, and Andrew's lifestyle as Governor is one of constant protection. You can't help but root for these two. This is apparently the second of a trilogy, if the other two books are not in my TBR, I'll be searching the UBS!
