When I picked up this book, I wanted to like it. I really did. It seemed interesting, funny and a little crazy. However, it just wasn’t meant to be. In the end I didn’t like most of the characters, with the exception of Harlow. In all honesty Nivea and Vangie I couldn’t stand and it was horrible to read the parts from their point of view. Every time I would get into one of those sections I would cringe and found myself wanting to reach into the book and knock some sense into them.
As for the author, I believe that in order to get that kind of response from me she had to have quite the talent. I normally won’t even finish the book if I don’t like it but I did. I think that Ms. Hobbs’s talents were wasted on this story line and trashy characters.
Now technically the book is great. The plot is solid, characters well developed and well written. I will even give credit to the uniqueness of this book. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I liked that Ms. Hobbs explored a number of controversial topics in this book, and she hit a lot of them on the head, even with the over zealous mother and her religious prejudices of homosexuality. But even seeing the way that relationship played out was pretty sad. I was hoping to see Vangie take a little bit of that happiness away with her.
With such high reviews I was really hoping this would be an amazing read. I am also one of those readers who doesn’t hold books against the author and I hope that Ms. Hobbs releases a book in the near future that doesn’t situate around these characters. I don’t think I could take much more of them.
In this sequel to “Put a Ring On It,” we find Nivea, Vangie, and Harlow still in situations that they really want to resolve so that they can move on to their happily ever after. Nivea has a newborn daughter, not sure who's the father, and still up to her gold digging ways. Vangie is still looking for love in all the wrong places. Harlow is seemingly living a life of luxury with her husband Drake but feels like there's a dark side to her husband, one that keeps her feeling like she can't trust him.
“With This Ring is well-written in a style that only Allison Hobbs can deliver. There are many twists and turns along the way. The ladies encounter situations where they are hurt mentally, sometimes physically and emotionally. Not sure if Ms. Hobbs will release another novel in this series but I really would like to know what happens with Vangie and Nivea.

The sequel to 'Put A Ring On It' reacquaints the reader with three friends- Nivea, Vangie and Harlow-who are dealing with life after marriage or an unsuccessful attempt of getting to the altar. Their friendship will be tested and more secrets were revealed.
I literally cut the world off, as I dug into this page turner. I simply could not put it down, because there was drama on every page. I highly recommend this book by @allisonhobbserotica and look forward to my next read by her. I have it a well deserved
The long awaited sequel to 'Put A Ring On It' by Allison Hobbs was an entertaining story. Three drastically different lives create a unique friendship between Vangie, Nivea, and Harlow. This novel had a lot of twists that made for an enjoyable read. What I enjoyed about the author's novels are that they are novels both sexes can read. Allison Hobbs doesn't disappoint and I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for a new author to add to their catalogue(just be sure to read 'Put A Ring On It' first.)
I love Allison Hobb’s books but this one sort of dragged for me. I had to make myself finish. I liked all three main characters for different reasons. I did feel like Harlow should’ve apologized to Vangie once she learned that she was right about Drake. I liked the fact that we got to see growth in Nivea. I hated how things turned out for Vangie in the love department. Overall it was an “ok” read. I would recommend it.
Other than one character mix up I really enjoyed this read and didn't want to put it down. The nonsense continued with Harlow, Nivea, and Vangie. It was as if they couldn't catch a break. I understood Harlow wanting to know everything about Drake but she was doing a bit much and overreacted as well. Her and Vangie's fall out was crazy and as much as I wanted her to avoid Nivea, she was giving some good advice. I was mad that she wanted to keep things from Drake concerning her pregnancy though. Nivea was too materialistic and was really more like her mother. I was mad she wanted Bertram to provide for her daughter but not be a part of her life. It seemed as long as she got her way and was able to spend somebody else's money, she could care less about them. I thought she would be up to her old ways again but I was happy when she began spending time with Malcolm. Vangie went off the deep end and Shawn was to blame for some of their problems as well. Yuri was being too disrespectful and the things his new family put into his head was beyond ridiculous. Alphonso was a sad disappointment in more ways than one. When things began unfolding I was like wow! Vangie was so worried about getting a ring that she put up with anything from Alphonso hoping things would get better. I felt like Zenith was wrong in a way for how she acted when Vangie chose to spend time with Yuri. She should've been understanding but Vangie didn't make the situation any better by worrying about how people would view her relationship. Nivea got her mind right before making a big mistake. She was willing to settle and marry for all the wrong reasons. I thought for sure Malcolm would jump out and stop things. Just when Drake thought things were good, he realized he shouldn't have been so trusting when it came to his right hand man. Harlow was ready to go in gangster mode when it came to Alphonso. At least things began looking hopeful for Vangie at the end!
Harlow, Nivea and Vangie, the divas from Put a Ring on It: A Novel (Zane Presents) are back and still dealing with issues.
Vangie thinks her man, Alphonso, is the one she will settle down with but he has no desire to settle down with any one woman. While attempting to snag Alphonso, she becomes involved in a battle between her son's father and his ghetto fabulous girlfriend. In the process, she loses sight of herself and her morals. Throughout this book, Vangie put friendships and relationships to the test as she battles her demons. Will Vangie be able to get Alphonso to finally put a ring on it? Will she come to grips with her reality?
Nivea tries to find comfort in the mighty dollar and plans on making sure her and her daughter are set for life financially no matter whose life and household she destroys. The paternity test threatens to damage her family ties so she finds someone else to pin on being the baby's father. Will the true father step up and take care of his baby? Will Nivea see that money can buy material things but can not buy happiness?
To an outsider, Harlow and Drake has a picture perfect life and the only thing missing is a child. Drake loves his wife and will do anything for her except reveal secrets regarding his job. Harlow wants to give her husband a child but it unhappy with her husband's sex performance and secrecy regarding his business trips and money. Drake's secret puts his wife and unborn children in harm's way. Will he come clean? Will he be able to save their lives or lose everything? Will Harlow be able to forget Drake?
This book is a great read with lots of suspense, murder, sex, and betrayal. Each character is still being developed and we learn more and more about them due to Ms. Hobb's superb storytelling skills. One click this ebook to see if the three friends finally have a happily ever after.
Unfortunately I didn't read the first book in the series. However while reading the novel, the chemistry between best girlfriends, Harlow and Vangie, gets a bit rigid and pensive and can also feel the tension between their conversation on relationships, marriage, and intimacy.
Moreover, women can easily get offended; bitter instead of better and need to move on with their lives after a relationship--rooting for Vangie to do after her relationship with Shawn, who obviously wants to move on with his life and they only share a child together (Yuri). She needs to accept that he has moved on even though she acts as if she is concerned about her son's welfare but it seems to be the girlfriend, that's all. She needs to face her own insecurities and jealousy issues altogether. She also makes presumptions without any evidence; waste of her time and money because of it.
Nivea isn't one of my girls, early on she's rather annoying and has agitated me with her parental schemes and dreams of only the dinero (cash money).
The story tackled on some real issues that women experience such as accepting with a mate that you are not content with because of time spent; girlfriends sharing other girlfriends business without consent; and women upset with their ex's girlfriend for various reasons just to name a few. Overall, Allison Hobbs has done a great job of developing the characters and scenes to get to the gist of it, and enough to say hmmmm.
I received a copy from the publicist at Simon and Schuster for a complimentary review.
The much anticipated sequel to Put a ring on it, Packed full of drama, laced with twists and turns like only Allison can do it. In "With this Ring" we dabble in the lives of Nivea,Vangie, and Harlow. Vangie and Nivea are still looking for that Mr. right to put a ring on it.

Nieva decides to get on the right track for the sake of her daughter. A Paternity test hands in the balance will the results give her the life she is looking for?
Vangie is on a rampage after not getting the life she hoped for. She doesn't know that her actions will cost her to lose many thing including the person she loves the most. Will this tale end with a not so happy ending?
This was a good follow up. It had more drama than the previous book. I love the characters and hope to read more about them. The way the book ended left it open for a part three. Great job Allison.
I really enjoyed reading the first book "Put a Ring On It" it was intriguing with every chapter I wanted to read more. It made me push to buy my kindle faster. Once I found out Allison Hobbs had a second book "With This Ring" to the one I was reading "Put A Ring On It", I immediately purchase the book (1st book on my kindle fire) and I've been delighted ever since. The suspense of the book made me want to read more. Also, Ms. Hobbs allows the readers to understand the circumstances of each situation. I really enjoyed both books and would recommend them to everyone
This book was not as good as Put a Ring on it. To me it was quite boring. I got excited on the part where Harlow got kidnapped which had me thinking to myself "finally some action!" but that was over just as quickly as it began. Aside from the few sex scenes it was just drab, im glad I did not buy this. I had to re rent the book just to finish it cause it took me THAT long to read smh but I am glad that Harlow, Nivea and Vangie all had happy endings. Sorry Mrs.Hobbs but this only got 3 stars from me.
OMG I JUST LOVE WITH THIS RING IT WAS OFF THE CHAIN WHEN I SAY IT SHOCK ME WITH VANGIE BUT IM GLAD SHE FOUND HAPPINESS,HARLOW AN DRAKE I LOVE THEM DRAKE IN THE MOB ON THE LOW LOL ALSO GLAD THE GOT THEIR BABIES NOW NIVEA IS A WHOLE NOTHER STORY BUT IM GLAD SHE FOLLOW HER HEART ALSO WITH MALCOM AND DIDNT MARRIED THAT OLD ASS MAN WHO IS OLD ENOUGH TO BE HER DAD BUT I FUCKIN LOVE THE BOOK ASWOME WORK @ ALLISON KEEP UP THE AMAZIN WORK.
When I first started reading this I was confused, because it had been awhile since I read part one. But I loved it. I was SO glad Nivea didn't marry McKenzie father. I hope she'll be able to start off a real relationship with Malcolm. Finding out Vangie's gay, and the secret Drake tried keeping from Harlow. Oops, I think I've said a little too much lol. But as stated above, LOVED it. Wonder if there will be a third part.
it started off slow but once it started to get interesting I couldn't put it down. it tugged at my heart. and the situations were so realistic. I definitely could relate.
