On 26 May 2011, the day after my birthday, my friend Mark took me to see The Avengers for my birthday. When I got home, I found out that my grandfather had passed away the previous day (my birthday). While we were out of town for the funeral, my grandmother was the ONLY ONE who even mentioned it. On the last day there, she pulled me aside into the guest bedroom where the bookshelf is and said, "I realized that Gene died on your birthday. Have they done anything for you?" I said no and she said, "I remember you loved this book as a kid when you would come here and read it the entire time you were here". She held up the old copy of Strange But True. The book was very well used, and by me. I literally grew up reading this book, every time I would go to my grandparent's house as a kid. It's the book that got me into the paranormal. I hadn't seen it in over ten years, and I nearly cried when I saw it. She handed it to me and said, "I want you to have this". After the Bible, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and Misery by Stephen King, this is one of the most important books in my life, and if there was a higher rating than 5-star, I would give it that rating.

This is an outstanding collection of stories taken from Fate magazine, a venerable old magazine that was something of a pioneer in paranormal publishing. The stories were originally published as far back as the 1950s and being allegedly true recollections of often older readers, they include tales that go back to the early part of the 20th century. If you're open to the possibility of life after death and strange anomalies you'll find most of the stories credible, but a few are pretty wild. A very enjoyable read if you're a fan of the genre.

The book is a collection of stories of ordinary people having unusual experiences. Chapters are broken into miracles, angels, dream messages, voices, visits from the dead, aliens, ghost stories, etc. Many of the accounts may be difficult to believe but story contributors apparently had to sign a notarized affidavit attesting to the truthfulness of their submissions. Makes for some fun and eerie reading. It may even change the way you view the world around you.

This was an interesting collection of stories, although I didn't believe most of them, they did give me a lot to think about. I wondered about the sanity of a lot of the contributors, being a natural skeptic, but I have to admit that some of the things described in the book seemed very compelling. i sometimes read books like this to get inspiration for my writing (fiction) and some of the stories did inspire me.

I rather enjoyed this book. I thought I had about half a dozen more pages to read but it ended. Bunch of pages advertisements in the back of the book. Good read for a used $1 book. Worth reading if the strange interests you.

this book truely attracted me more to the paranormal side of life, to investigate more into these whole other worldly things of the after life and beyond earths orbit.
