Michelle has been writing and reading her whole life. Her earliest memory of books was when she was five and decided to try and teach her fish how to read, by putting her Beatrix Potter books in the fish tank with them. Since then her love of books has grown, and now she is writing her own, and looking forward to seeing them on her shelves, though they won’t be going anywhere near the fish tank.

The thing with Consequences is that the instant you pick it up you are doomed. Doomed because there are 15 pages between you and the rest of your life. Your life be damned - there are more important things than that.

Some of which you will find in this short story.

A normal day is destroyed quickly and then main character Celia finds herself at the mercy of a mad woman who blames Celia for ruining her life by taking away her man. It's always the men who cause trouble, right?!

Michelle Birbeck has such a way of describing the mentally unbalanced woman, and the torture that they can inflict, that makes you wonder if the world is safe with such a 'creatively insane' mind out there.

Truly if you want to be disturbed to your very soul read 'Consequences' and then make damn sure you lock up your frying pans!

"Consequences" is the first short story I have read since I graduated from school. Usually short stories make me think of school and interpreting them being a pain in the ass. I am pleased to say that "Consequences" did not remind me of school in the most pleasant way possible. It is a griping story that pulls you into Celia's and Nick's lives and doesn't let you go untill you have read the last word! Personally I can't wait to read more stories from Michelle Birbeck, because I am sure that "Consequences" is only a small peek at her true writing skills!

This was really good. Lots of really gruesome imagery, it keeps making you think, and was just a good read from the start. The writing was amazing, and I can't wait to read a full sized novel like this.

This 15 page short story is unforgeable. Full of lots of descriptive imagery and enough plot twists to keep you guessing right till the very last sentence. If you like your horror gory but intelligent you should read this book.

Plot wise the story is Seemingly traditional. A loving couple held captive by a insane person, however the author has turned this traditional plot into something very interesting and unexpected. Their is just enough description and back story to satisfy the reader whilst letting your imagination fill in the gaps.

5/5 can not wait to read this authors next book.
