Ancient Egypt - The Glory of the Pharaohs tells us about civilisation under the pharaohs, of mysterious statues and tombs, incredible obelisks, the Sphinx - In this recording, the ancient Egyptian kingdom is brought to life in a way that fuels the listener's imagination, teaching and entertaining in equal measure.
What a fantastic walk through mythology and more. This was completely unexpected, especially for a title that boasted a mere 2hrs of listening time. I know little about the mythology behind Ancient Egypt's beginnings, so my rating might not agree with someone more so knowledgeable. Regardless, the listening was clean, clear, and fluid - not just the voice, but the writing, mind you. I will likely listen to this again, once I get a better grip on Egypt's mythical past; there is a lot of little bits of gems and such nestled within and I might need to look back on those tidbits in the future, especially since it only took a short while to get through.
Short and mostly enjoyable. It was largely mythology, with a bit of overview sprinkled in. I wish it was more focused and took a bit more time. It read a bit like a kids book. But it was fun for what it was.
It was ... fine. I wasn't expecting fully half of this short audiobook to be ancient myths (not really my bag). There's nothing deeper here than you'd find in a pop history TV programme, but as a whole it was diverting enough.
A nice brief, but informative overview of ancient Egypt, the gods, goddesses, and rulers. It was especially interesting just having visited some of the ancient sites of Luxor and Giza.
This is an incredible book! The detail and depth of information on ancient Egypt is an absolute achievement by the author. It is a wonderful teaching book that I highly recommend.
