I read this book because it is about Christian people living in Moscow when Christianity was illegal. I really like that the main character, Ivan, is truly a Christian with his own faith and conviction. I didn't catch his age, but I'm thinking he's about 14 or so.
The basic plot of the story is that Ivan's friend and his friend's father are taken away by the KGB and Ivan helps solve the problem. It's not just an escape story though, it is one of trusting in God and acting on faith. That's what really impressed me.
This is actually really good readable Christian YA fiction. Well developed believable characters, nice pacing, good plot development. I can't say enough good about the whole series. I read these as a boy and still love them!
This was a fun page turner. I think it is definitely a series worth reading for children age 10-14. I felt like the incorporation of Christian faith was well done. It gives you an appreciation for freedom as well as it exposes you to life in Russia.
