This book had the potential to be really great but sadly it ended up being incredibly mediocre. I'm normally a huge fan of time travel/Scottish romances but this one fell flat for me. There was absolutely no explanation of how the time travel worked nor Eilan's abilities. On top of that there were huge holes in the plot where weeks had suddenly passed but you were given no idea of what the characters had been up to. I was also incredibly annoyed by the main character Eilan. The majority of her inner dialogue made me cringe and wanting to reach through the pages of the book and throttle her. And don't get me started on how absolutely fucking terrible the ending was. Do yourselves a favour and don't ever pick this book up.

Like a lot of these romance books you have to suspend disbelief not just for the time travel aspects but annoying comments made by the characters such as by Eilan to Conor "We don't settle every argument with a point of a sword. We're civilised." You just know something bad is going to happen after she said that! The writer does, however, use good descriptive words which effectively evoke atmosphere and set the scene. BUT … we are suppose to be saving Conor MacCloud's people but we start with taking in the culinary delights of Seattle then proceed to elements of "Romancing the Stone" it is only in the last 75 pages where it actually gets to the point of why Eilan was brought to Conor's time and she seems to spend inordinate amounts of time just standing around thinking.

If you are looking for a rolicking sexy historical adventure then you will be disappointed and I am afraid it is no 'Fifty Shades of Grey' either I also feel it lacked in the sweet romance department as well. A missed opportunity an interesting premise and atmospheric setting spoilt by well it just doesn't get going I think it needed to be longer and the story developed more.

I don't recommend this book to anybody. For most of the book they're doing nothing but talking, and then there's a sex scene but you don't really get to the plot until near the end. Then the final fight doesn't even really last a whole chapter.

This story had the potential of an excellent storyline, but much good it does if the writer leaves out the important things that will explain it better just to fit it all into a 300 page book.

It's about an empath at her best, sent back in time to help the people of a kingdom, one by one, to find peace and bring them all happiness again. It pushes the story-line way too fast and it leaves you wondering what in the hell is going on.

Not worth the read unless you just enjoy reading the Scottish accents.

Time travel is one of my favorite genres. I loved the way Ms. Binder wove the story across modern day Seattle Washington and Scotland in the 1300's. Both main characters were strong - Elian Dougan was visiting her parents antique shoppe in the city from her Colorado guide business and Conor MacCloud who travels through time to find the woman who can heal his land and clan. This was a sweet time travel romance and I enjoyed it very much. I am looking forward to discovering other works by the author.

Perfect pacing, conflict and tension were well-controlled, and HEA! What a great example to use for my work.
