Carrie is a native Texan, born in the Lone Star State in the early sixties. Currently a resident of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, she lives with her partner of 25+ years, Jan, whom she legally married in Toronto in September 2003.
Carrie loves to geocache, as well as volunteer her time with a local animal shelter and rescue group. While she enjoys traveling, she likes to spend most of her time at home with her wife and dogs.
She has written ten books in the Somerville series, and has revised and rereleased them as an independent writer.
Carrie has also written four stand-alone romances and has several more planned.
More action, more danger, more love and a bitch who made my blood boil. I'm really fond of all the characters (especially Lex) and I love their quirky, humorous behavior. An utterly engrossing sequel. Highly recommended!
I cherish stories like this one. There's something about a country/ranch setting that adds authenticity and a raw element to the plot. Romance in the country feels sweeter with a depth that allows you to get tangled in the vortex of the story, falling deeper and deeper with the characters.
Lex and Amanda are the perfect couple who understand one another with a deep respect and an undying love. I could read about those two all day. The drama only heightened in the third installment to the Somerville series, and at times, I wondered if the bull-headed, tall, hunky rancher was going to perish from her daring acts. Lex is a sweetie, but she is also fierce and incredibly strong, and that is such a turn-on to me. I might have a crush. Amanda is the perfect balance for Lex, she has the ability to calm the storm that tends to rage wildly inside the rancher. Hope's Path added more characters which richened the plot and not only had Lex and Amanda on edge, but me as well. Many emotional moments in this story as family was a big focal point. Lex discovering past secrets that helped chip away ice from her heart regarding her own family, and Amanda's surprise that helped bridge a large gap between her and her family.
Carr wrapped this up with another tear-jerking moment which only makes me want to know more!
I did not cry. I did not cry. I did not cry. (I cried)
Carr pulled at my heartstrings many times throughout, had me laughing in joy, and giddy with glee during those precious moments between Lex and her growing family.
More action, more danger, more love and a bitch who made my blood boil. I'm really fond of all the characters and I love their quirky, humorous behavior. Again an amazing sequel.
Lex and Amanda Are Back!! This is book three in the Somerville Series and I am so excited to have read more of their story!! Once again Lex is in danger, fences are being cut all over the ranch, and someone is trying to break up this dynamic duo. At least they have each other along with Martha, Charlie and Amanda’s grandparents to love them, support them and help them along their path.
I loved this book so much! It’s a classic romance with a mysterious bend to keep it even more intriguing. The sexy bits are very mild, PG13 if you will but that in no way makes this book any less than desirable. There is so much mushy loving going on, not just between Amanda and Lex but between other couples and most importantly, the love of family. I adore all these characters and I felt like I was home with my family. There was a whole lot going on in this book and tiny spoiler alert, there is a MASSIVE plot twist near the end that I swear I NEVER saw coming!! Holy buckets!!! WOW!! Anyway, if you haven’t read this series, you really should, they are sweet, tender and beautifully written, I can’t wait to see if there is more to come!!
I am invested in this series and loved the first two books, but found this one a little disappointing. There were some interesting plot points and twists and turns in the story, but I felt that some of the minor characters such as Hubert were one dimensional caricatures. Whilst I love reading about two women who love and adore each other, some of the scenes were very repetitive and do nothing to move the story forward.
What I did like about this book is how Lex is slowly opening up her emotions and is able to show her vulnerable side to Amanda and Martha, so we can see character growth there. Amanda too is becoming more assertive and stronger, an equal to Lex. I also loved the fact that after being solitary for so long, Lex is gathering family around her, not necessarily blood relatives, but family that is chosen.
Despite the 3 star rating I am looking forward to the next book in the series. It's certainly not a bad book, just not as great as the first two.
The love between Amanda and Lex is undeniable. In this series, everyday life would be uninteresting and boring so lets have bad guys that are coming at them from various angles. What is almost unbelievable is the resiliency of their bodies. Hit over the head, ribs broken, limbs damaged, poisoned and able to recover in days? WOW! On the other hand, I like the devotion of friends and family. Although not rushing, I will read the next book in the series.
attempted murder, mayhem, and intrigue guide these two incredible women down a dangerous path!
Carrie L. Carr has continued the journey of Lex and Amanda’s love story with on going struggles from the Ranch to L.A. and back. Amanda’s parents are determined to break the two apart and begin a systematic staging of dangers that drag the women through many situations and emotions. In the mean time me, lex loses a grandmother she thought long dead just adding to her emotional ups and downs, then meets her grandfather! Amanda’s mom frames her dad then disappears after Amanda is poisoned and almost dies! These are just some of the highlights! Read the series, it is so darned good. Excellent writing skills are evident throughout.
Having a hard time reading this book. The story repeats itself with the drama. Yes, Lex and Amanda are in danger of some sort, yada, yada, yada. Leigh Anne & Jacob there...check. Martha and Charlie, check. Has Lex been to see Doc Anderson, yet again? Check. I mean, can we get some relationship growth on Amanada and Lex? Where are the talks about family, and what they want from each other? Also, where's the sex? There's so much emotion that passes through characters and sex, and I'm just not sure why it's stopped all of a sudden. Like, when did we go from talking about it to insinuating it?
Again, I'm mid-book. But those are my thoughts thus far. Hopefully, something changes because the daunting task of reading another 7 books like this is too much.
Amanda and Lex are not having the best of times are they? Vandalism at the ranch and people out to hurt them (well hurt Lex). Will they ever be able to live a quiet peaceful life?
I am really enjoying this series. I love all the characters but I hate Hubert (Lex's brother) and Michael and Elizabeth (Amanda's parents). I would love to wring there necks for the way they treat the duo. Martha is still my favourite character from all of them. I think she is brilliant.
Looking forward to continuing this series with the next book.
The storyline is ok. I guessed and struck to the end of who I thought the villain was, I was off. But all is said and it has been a great story. I like a good story. The frirst two essential two books ( should read first) a sweet story.I look forward to the next.
I love Amanda and Lex it's more of the same but that's not bad either. I was a bit distracted reading the third installment but whenever I got back to it I remembered everything so on to book 4
I adore Lex & Amanda's love and commitment to each other. It's so strong and beautiful even when those that should support them don't and while they are fighting off each attack against Lex.
So much craziness happening in the book that you aren’t fully sure who is behind all the bad things that happened. It does get worked out more in the end. There is also a great surprise of good for Lex and Amanda in the end.
If it weren’t for bad luck Lex would have no luck at all. Trouble finds her time and time again but everything works out in the end. On to the next one to see what happens next.
It was truly a lovely book. And both main characters are still feisty and loving and will do anything for those they love - especially grandparents. I really love Lex. She is an amazing woman (the pickle you might think is sour but is sweet as heck). I look Forward to more of the series being on audio because I want to know if they have kids!!!!!!!! I am a sucker for kids. And Lex - although Amanda is still sweet - her dab of honey - and also fierce for those who could damage her loved ones. I love loyalty.
