Now that Sakura has proven herself as a magician, she finds that there are other unnatural forces threatening her town . . . forces linked somehow to two mysterious transfer students who've just arrived--one attracted to her brother, the other attracted to her! Li and Sakura may be friends now instead of rivals, but if there's a rival for Sakura's affections, is he going back to Hong Kong . . . ?
Book 3 contains thirty bonus Cardcaptor Sakura illustrations in full color!
CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.
I really love how this manga navigates its plot weavings . All of these characters are genuinely good, there's no evil present in the book at all, and yet there's still tension, and danger and intrigue.
While Sakura as a character can be very dense sometimes (said with love, but still that girl can't pick up on hints, even when they are flashing big neon signs in her face, at all!), I really enjoyed Li-Kun's character. He is pure, and I love how Tomoyo is always there catching him at his most romantic and vulnerable moments.
Aww that ending is so bittersweet! I wish Toya didn't have to make that sacrifice I feel like that was a big part of his connection with Sakura. I hope that doesn't change now.
I didn't like how Nakuru tries to constantly come between Yukito and Toya. Her character rubs me the wrong way I don't know why but I just don't really like her... the other new characters don't annoy me like she does they are just mysterious and heighten my curiosity to know what the hell is going on with them.
I loved Syaoran and Sakura's budding friendship into possibly something more? I loved their interactions and I'm really loving the idea of them together they are so cute together.
I loved the idea presented by Tomoyo where you give stuffed animals their birth dates when you give them a name and a ribbon. And then the superstition that if you name a stuffed animal after you, the person you give it to will always return your love. I thought that was a cool concept. I love the personality and details to the characters that this series has.
Onward to the last book in this series! I'm gonna be so sad to finish this series, I've loved it so much. Has anyone read this and Tsubasa Chronicle? Perhaps I will read that series when I finish this one but I worry it'll be so different from CCS.
World: The art is fantastic and the new status quo and changing of the cards makes for some pretty fantastic splash pages. The world building is solid once again. No info dumping and just enough to keep the story going. The pieces we do get is interesting and builds upon the fun lore.
Story: The pacing is a bit better than the first half of the book where I found that characters needed more fleshing out. However that has not slowed the story down, it's still moving very quick but with the new status quo there is a new sense of urgency that was not present in the first half of the series. It's good!
Characters: Sakura, Toyo, Shaoran and everyone get huge chunks of character development and moments. Sure the emotions are still a bit on the surface and choppy but there is a lot more compared to the first half of the series. These characters have so much personal voice and charm
A good new chapter to the series and new stakes make for drama fun!
The original series continues with new challenges.
Having gathered all of the Clow cards and proving her worth as a mage Sakura's life could have gone back to normal but normal is not on the agenda right now. Unnatural events are happening in town and the Clow Cards are ineffective until Sakura taps into her own magic to change them one by one into Sakura Cards. The process is draining and whatever force is behind the phenominums are also helping her magic strengthen as someone close to her is in danger from fading away.
Two mysterious students transfer to Sakura and Touya's schools who both have interests in the siblings so be sure to read the book to discover if they are friend or foe as Sakura continues her journey into the world of magic.
Just like the other omnibus volumes released by Dark Horse Manga this is a nice addition to anyone's collection with nice size pages filled with quality paper and several full color illustrations littered through out the book for your gawking pleasure. :)
There are many great scenes in the book but one of my favorites is Li being controlled by another and although Sakura has the means to save him the team work between the two of them really shines through. :)
Honestly just keeps getting better. The character development, the relationships (not just romantic) between the characters, the depth of the story.
Syaoran is great. He was bratty when we first met him, and now he's learning to befriend and love others, and he's really turning out to be a wonderful kid. I enjoy his character and role a lot.
We're introduced to several new characters this time around, and they're all interesting in their own ways. One is kind of annoying, but doesn't show up all that often. Everyone else has become really well-rounded characters with varying personalities and they're overwhelmingly likable. Minus that pedo teacher guy. He seems like a nice enough dude the 3 times you even see him so far in the manga, but...come on. Your "girlfriend" is 10, man.
Somehow, Sakura is this amazing kid, and it's not annoying how perfect she is. She's not as scared anymore, she dotes on her friends and family, she keeps getting stronger and smarter, and it still doesn't feel over the top or annoying that she's like this angelic little ball of perfection that everyone loves. She can be dense when it comes to boys, I guess, but I mean, she's like 11 now, so.
Hey, stuff happens! Sakura faces interesting challenges and I didn't feel so bored! It's overly mysterious and why aren't people figuring these obvious bits of weirdness out, but I'll take what I can get. Toya is best character. And PLEASE STOP with the creepy relationships. I know this series is about love, but it does so very little to explore than in a healthy way.
This was such a comforting trip back to my childhood. I really loved how the plot is moving along, and how the characters are expanding. Honestly one of those super easy reads perfect for a rainy day
okay i read this way to fast for the size of the omnibus but it was so good. i dont remember this arc from when i last read the series but i dont know why i never read past the second omnibus. the story is a bit strange and not entirely clear on details of whats happening but its interesting to see how events unfold and how stuff plays out. the three major new characters are interesting but bizarre since not a whole lot has been revealed about them yet but they seem to appear whenever the mysterious magic occurs, the reveal that will probably come in the next volume should be interesting. lastly the cards changing is kind of cool but strange since there has been no explanation yet bit the designs are kind of cool and the change in some of the ways the powers manifest is fun. overall a fairly good volume which continues the light-hearted nature of earlier volumes. it will be interesting to see how this lovely series wraps up in the next omnibus.

Off we go to the second major arc of Cardcaptor Sakura. CLAMP's typical matched pairs are starting to get a little overbearing, as usual. But the cute outfits and Sakura's bravery and the cast's innocent blushes continue to be major factors, and it's all so endearing, and the art has a fun, brisk-moving energy, and everyone loving and protecting each other and/or having each others' best interests at heart is sweet and soothing, so it's fine.
The sacrifice at the end of this volume felt somewhat hurried, but I also appreciated that it was made without hesitation, despite the price.
I probably shouldn't be marathoning this--there's very little that can hold up to it, for me. I mean, even Jane Austen got wearying and repetitive after a while. But I've gotten this far, so I'll at least finish the 1990s series before taking a few months' break.
“I want the person I love to be happy... more than I want their love returned." 'But... Don't you want the person you love to love you back...?' "That would be wonderful... But, if the person I love is happy... then that's all I need to be happy.”
Ahhh! This series is breaking my heart... in the best of ways!! I really am enjoying the shift in narrative (a lot more than I thought I would); everything feels so much more important and intense, while still managing to have that lighthearted feeling only Cardcaptor Sakura can achieve. Tomoyo and Syaoran really stole the show in these volumes, especially with how cute and just plain adorable Syaoran is around Sakura, now that he understands his feelings towards her. I can't wait to read the last three volumes!
Okay, it's official, I love this series. I was already pretty sure I loved it but holy shit it's gotten so good. Sakura is a doll, I adore her. Syaoran is such an angry little bi, he's so funny. I love how mad and embarrassed he is that he's in love with Sakura. I'm intrigued by where this plot is going with Clow. What really tipped this volume over for me though is Toya and Yukito and Yue. Yue is my new favorite character and I love him with all my heart. He's so bitchy and funny and loves Sakura so much. Toya has been a favorite for a while and he continues to be. Toya and Yukito are so cute. This series is so good and so unbelievably queer. Absolutely love it.
Well this volume made me cry, I think this marks the last appearance of Sakuras mum, and it’s brief but sweet. I think this is when I knew for a fact that Eriol wasn’t evil, if he was Sakura’s mum wouldn’t have smiled at him.
I didn’t really recall any specific storylines from this, though I did recall the giant bear. I knew this arc focused on Sakura changing the cards to run off her power, and my favourite was her use of Shadow. Tomoyo is definitely a favourite of mine so seeing her absolute trust in Sakura was lovely.
Ruby and Spinel have never really interested me in the way some characters do, but looking at the colour illustrations at the back of this volume I’d definitely consider cosplaying as the former, and getting a plushie of the latter.
The third volume in the CCS Omnibus edition contains issues 7, 8 and 9. This was to date my favorite volume because SHAORAN IS SO CUTE. I love it when he is jealous and he finally admits what he feels, and that wasn't so explored in the anime, so it's cool to see more. I NEED MORE SHAORAN. ALWAYS.
Loved the handmade teddy bear explanation and how things are evolving in the story. The content is more mature and has more depth. Plus, Eriol is so creepy, right? And I adore the way Tomoyo loves Sakura, it’s perfect because she’s not selfish AT ALL. She just wants her to be happy. AW. This series is brilliant; it leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy. 5 stars all the way!
Another excellent installment! One of my favourite parts of the series. I love seeing Toya and Yuki's relationship develop, Syaoran slowly figuring out his feelings for Sakura, and Sakura's changing and strengthening magic.Plus. Eriol is a cool character.
The only consistent complaint I have with the series is romances like the one between Rika and Terada. I know CCS has this thing about soulmates and love existing regardless of age and gender, but having that between a teacher and an elementary school student crosses a line for me, even if it's presented fairly innocently.
As per usual with this Cardcaptor Sakura series, this whole book was an adorable delight to read. The only issue that I had with this book is that it had more time spent on character's crushes than the other ones did, and after a while some of those plot lines feel repetitive (ex: having a character get interrupted on multiple occasions when they're trying to confess their feelings for another character). It's just the kind of thing that probably feels less repetitive/more funny when seen on the anime of this instead of reading it here.
I forgot that the second part is Eriol and friends. Though I don’t like this particular “era”, I like Syaoran-Kun’s blossoming feelings towards Sakura.
-I wonder why Sakura remembers her dad through Eriol? Is it just because of the personality and kindness or is there something else?
-I forgot in the TV version about Toya giving up his power to Yue. I just don’t understand why can’t Yue have much power as Cerberus.

This feels like a very middle chapter, particularly as it introduces new villains for this second half of the series. It seems to go for a mysterious tone, although I can't help but feel like this one would be more enjoyable on a second read (after having also read the final part of the series).
I can't quite tell if the constant delayed confrontation is building tension or if it is a bothersome tease.
Another great installment. This series just gets better and better. I love reading the series now older too, because I can understand a lot of the deeper stuff going on! I recommend this to anyone who grew up on sailor moon. The series is so nostalgic and wonderful, but also heartfelt and interesting.
I really enjoyed this volume of the omnibus and the new turn the story is taking.
I especially loved the Touya and Yukito arc because... canonical queer soulmates, what else do you want??? Also, Nakuru might be annoying as hell, but Nakuru said nonbinary rights!
I'm continuing to enjoy this series. The new "bad" guy mostly seems to be helping Sakura become a stronger magician and I'm sure they'll all be friends in the final volume.
