I read the 2024 edition of this book. I picked it up for free at my local Natural Grocers on a lark because I buy some of NOW's products. Although the book could have used a good editor and it was heavy handed in its evanagelizing, at least Richard was comfortable sharing his faith.
All that aside, the book really did go into the details of how NOW started and where it's come--and I learned a thing or two. But what I appreciated most was knowing that NOW has very high standards; tests both its products, ingredients, and sometimes those of others; and makes high quality products. I suspected as much because their products are carried at Natural Grocers, but it was good to read it considering I do buy several items from their brand.
If you are interested in reading the history of a family buying a struggling business, overcoming obstacles to maintain, and eventually "making it," you just might enjoy this book.
