This book talks all about the ocean and what animals live there, what bodies of water are considered oceans and seas and what other fun activities there are to do on the water. I liked all the picture and how realistic they were. The book ended with ways that the ocean can be endangered and I think it's really important to showcase as well. This book is great to read before starting an ocean lesson plan or project!

I gave this book a 4/5 because the title is About the Ocean but there isn't a lot of facts about life down under. The facts are very brief and only surface on main points. I do like however the other information included in the book and I loved the real pictures. It can help students to make the connection between the text and story. I also love that after reading this book you can do so many projects or activities.

I thought this nonfiction book was full of good information for students. I loved that there was a side for "parents" to read and a side for "children." I expected this to be a very basic read of information, but was actually quite surprised that I learned something new myself. I enjoyed that this was about more than just what was in the ocean, and included a section about trash and pollution. This made the story so much more relevant to current issues.
For my classroom, because of the unique way it was written, I would have this be a partner reading book. This could be done by letting students choose a partner, but I also think this would be beneficial if a struggling reader was partnered with a more advanced reader. AKA buddy reading.

Lots of colorful and beautiful pictures of some of thevplants and animals you find in and around the ocean.
This is a we both read with apage for adults to introduce some words (in bold) to the child so they know how to say the word in their shorter and simpler sentences.
