The Masters of Mercy Club would like to issue you an invitation.
Entry into San Francisco’s newest hot spot is by invite only, but that hasn’t kept journalist Cassandra Davis from digging into what is really going on behind the walls of the ultra-exclusive venue. When its mysterious owner Richard Guildford finally grants her an interview, Cassandra is determined to uncover his secrets.
But it's Cassandra’s secrets that interest Richard. The curious little reporter may seem tough, but he can see right through her. He knows exactly how to satisfy her forbidden cravings...and all the time in the world to do it.
As a child Rebecca Lyndon considered many professions: actor, astronaut, Solid Gold dancer. It wasn't until the looming shadow of responsible adulthood fell over her that she decided on the stable field of writing. She now pens naughty tales of love and lust from her home in Northern California.
This one is hard to rate. Dark Mercy had lots of potential and the hero Richard was dark, mysterious and certainly interesting as a Dom and part owner of the new adult Mercy Club. But then I blinked and it was over before it really ever began.
Ricahrd has 8 other very facinating business associates who I am sure will probably be getting their own stories, but if they are as short as this one...well it would be a shame. I will have to reserve judgement on if I will be checking out any more in this series.
I was so excited about this book. It had everything I want in a book. Hot heroes, who are also incubi, and a BDSM club. The potential was amazing. But it was just so short! Like, really short. I wanted to learn more about the characters. I wanted more development, more foreplay, so to speak, before the hot scene. Alas, it was good for what it was, but it was just too short to fully realize its potential.
A novella that had so much potential if only the author had spent time developing plot and characters. Sadly, you don't get a chance to know or even like either the hero or heroine in this story which is truly a shame. If you're looking for a quick, very quick, read that's more BDSM light, then you might try this title.
Dark Mercy absolutely had an amazing amount of potential. GREAT and unique back story - an interesting heroine and a Dom that sizzles sex and command. The problem? It was truly honestly just too short. And by that I mean I started reading it when I got on the Metro to go home - it's a 20 minute ride folks and I was done with this before I even got to my stop .. clocking in at 18 minutes - now I grant you I read very fast...but still. It is not an infrequent complaint for me in the erotica genre specifically with BDSM but I do not think it has ever been more obvious to me than in this book.
The scene (there is really just one in this short) where she is looking through the glass and he is behind her was positively scorching...and there is so much that could have been done there to expand on that interlude. The room she is shown too - we could have seen it before in a dream if we had been given any time to know the character which we weren't. There is no connection to either of them.
I think the writing shows amazing promise. Again the idea of the nine is fascinating (a little LOTR'ingy but whatever) and provides what should have could have been amazing depth to the story.
I do have to say I hope the author shops this one a bit....I think with a enhanced, edited, and greatly expanded redo of the story this has 5 star potential for a fabulous series....as it stands now I'm not involved enough with any of the characters to want to read a second go round.
Again this one is dramatically a "SHOULDA"...I shoulda had more history and character explanation, I shoulda had expanded sex scenes (and more of them or one doozy of a singular one) and I shoulda been writing this review saying I CANNOT WAIT to read X's story next. I gave it a 2 because of the guy (I cannot even remember his name!) because he was hot and even I shivered a bit when he came up behind her...yum. I could see him more than her....but they both deserved far better than this.
This was a good short story, 49 pages. I normally do not go into para normal romances but the premise of the story looked very interesting. You will find no well drawn out characters in this story. To be honest I purchased this novel because of the thought of a group of men coming back from the Crusades being cursed, to travel through time sexually unsatisfied until they finally join with their one true love. Because of the length of the story it did get down to the nitty gritty by page three.
So the story opens with a journalist, Cassandra Davis, known for her articles on corruption etc, finally receives an invitation into San Francisco’s newest hot spot. She can not wait to go and expose what is really going on behind the walls of the ultra-exclusive, secretive venue. When its mysterious owner Richard Guildford finally grants her an interview, Cassandra is determined to uncover everything. But it's Cassandra’s secrets that interest Richard. The curious little reporter may seem tough, but he can see right through her. He knows exactly how to satisfy her forbidden cravings...and all the time in the world to do it.
Would have loved this story to have been longer. But having said that I was entertained enough that I am purchasing book two in the series, which is Alan Fitzhugh and Paige Murphy story. Each story has it own happy ending. Sensual rating is a 9....recommend if you are looking for a short read..
This story has or had potential in two genres, firstly it looked like paranormal linked to succubus and incubus and knights from the crusades. Then without further ado it's set in modern day BDSM club so fits within the BDSM erotica genre but the scene described falls short it lacks detail of the effects to Cassandra's sexuality, past and possible future and the reader is left with a story that has flickers of something good but hasn't quite achieved it's potential; characters who have begun something but the reader doesn't know how it will continue yet wants to. English standard is above average with very few minor errors. If this is testing the waters or a prequel then Rebecca Lyndon has shown promise within the genres mentioned but it needs more development. It's a three star short story or novella.
I'm going to echo what most of the other reviews have said; this story had great potential. Well written, interesting set-up/back-story and characters (hot/commanding hero, strong heroine) and really good build-up of sexual tension,(so deftly done) but the story was too just too short. Felt like every thing got got short-shifted just as it started. I think the author realizes how short these stories are because she refers to them as bites. I really wish she'd re-think this strategy and work on something that was at least novella length. Having said that, since each bite/story costs $0.99 I sprung for the next in the series ^o^
3.25 stars and a great introduction into this series. One downfall is that it was just too damn short. However, it was only $0.99.
The chemistry between Richard and Cassandra is yummy even though it was brought on fast. Richard is an incubus who has been serving for approx 2,000 years. The beginning of this story was setting up how Richard and other soldiers came to serve as incubus, which made this short story even shorter. I'm looking forward to seeing the some of the other incubus getting their HEA, and how they get there. It's sure to get hot.
Sweet smexy story starting of with a demon goddess succubus turning a group of 9 men into incubus. The question is, will there be 9 books? Or I guess 9 short tales?
In this first one, we meet Richard, the leader of the group. The set up is pretty good. The world building is a bit thin. The sex scenes were tasty. Just when I thought more was going to happen, the book ended. I consider this more a serial book than series. Still, a good smexy kinky start. Recommended for kinky readers who want a little BD.
Dark Mercy is a short, short story about Richard, one among a group of Crusade knights who encounter a succubus and make a deal for immortality. Current day, the nine run the Mercy BDSM club. This is the perfect opportunity for them because they know the sexual secrets of others and how to make their wishes come true. Hopefully the club will also provide them a chance to meet the one who will break their curse and bring them their own happiness.
The story starts off slowly, but sometimes that's a good thing as it gives you a chance to get to know the characters. In this case, you still feel like you don't know them very well, and don't really want to get to know them better. The BDSM parts were good :)
I probably won't read again, and may only purchase the others (as it's split into more than one book - aren't they all!!) if they are free or at a low price.
I really liked this story, my only negative would be that it is too short. Very steamy though...A journalist out to get the story and a club owner out to get something "else". Rebecca Lyndon brings a lot of pieces together in a short amount of time, and there is enough to keep you hanging (that's in here too) for the next installment. Good Read for sure!

This Book was a freebie from Amazon. I really liked this story, my only negative would be that it is too short. This story had great potential. Well written, interesting set-up/back-story and characters a hot/commanding hero and a strong heroine. And really good build-up of sexual tension, but the story was too just too short.
Too bad. Great premise!! I would love to read more about these men and this club, but even $99 is too much to spend for a 10 minute read. The author could have easily turned this into a novella, she has the talent and imagination, but cut it way too short.
Too short.. I know I know its a short story. It starts off great, with an interesting storyline developing. I would like to see this with about two hundred more pages, and maybe a series, of more than two books. Not a bad late night read if you only have a half an hour.
It was way too short! I enjoyed the writing style, very sexy and steamy but just when the story was developing, it was over! Would like to see the story developed further.
A great little start to the story I can't wait to read the next one. An interesting concept. I have a funny feeling that this is going to be another one of my favourite BDSM series.
