I refuse to be sucked into the depths of whatever THAT was. *shudder* o_O It will likely resurface when I'm more mentally prepared for the utterly shameful onslaught of filth. So all that I've been doing is to just read novels,. I never expected that there's one book that will contain both poetry and short story writing.
Even the short stories are little nuggets, "Like Porno for Psychos collects the most extreme erotic horror from the celebrated hardcore horror master. Wrath James White is your guide through sex, death, and the darkest desires of the heart." All of it is soooo well written and i think is actually better than "we are here to hurt each other" but even that had a literature award so ye i also think that this book should have had a literary award too!
All of the short stories are so in depth and really tells into really taboo topics in a way that is unique and engaging, all of it coming from a state of curiosity to the deep dark secrets of the human mind.
And i also now give you the award of ✨The most fucked up cover that i ever picked up in a book✨ it takes guts to even feature THAT, like.WHAT THE FUCK EVEN IS THAT?,. WHAT IS DATT

Sick, twisted, and a complete mid f**k. I loved it. This book isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy taking horror to the extreme, give it a try.

Consider my curiosity appeased. Porno for Psychos was my first Wrath James White read, born from the blurbs I'd read in the back of several of Brian Keene's Deadite Press releases. I'd wondered if he was as extreme as those blurbs made him sound (almost), pondered if he could be more disgusting than Edward Lee (no), and mused over whether such writing could be enviable in its construction (most definitely - because there are some fantasticly written passages found within these pages).
That said, I'm not sure whether this series of short stories and two poems constitute horror. They are certainly disgustingly debaucherous, and as the title of the collection implies, positively pornographic. But despite all the gender mutilating and ass reaming, none of the stories elicited any thing more than the occasional shudder of repulsion or a disgusted curled lip from me. This largely explained why I found the collection to be just an okay read that was easily devourable. You know, like genitalia (if you're a Wrath James White character) ...
High points: FATTER, JOY and KIDS.
Low points: FEEDING TIME and AFTER THE CURE.

This book was hard to put down. The collection was so seamlessly compiled that you start to find yourself trapped in Wrath James White's depraved little world. It's hard to get out once you're in. It's not haphazard like some other collections and each story flows effortlessly from one to the next. Not to mention you constantly find yourself NEEDING to see what the next tale brings. You NEED to see what White will do next. Each of the stories themselves are highly inventive and would make today's Hollywood Horror standards cry in shame at how stale and tired the genre has become.
If you're unfamiliar with White, he's a hardcore/extreme horror author along the same lines as Edward Lee. Well, just replace Lee's grossness factor with eroticism and a little less fluid. Expect a lot of sex and gore with a subconscious commentary on the human psyche. Expect cannibalism, skin being flayed and depravity. You'll need a shower after this one.
Do yourself a favor and instead of seeing another drab Horror remake, pick up a freaking book.

I finally decided to tackle this book after it’s been on my TBR pile since December 2017.
What a complete mind f*^k. No seriously it was.
This is a collection of stories and each one is disturbing , gruesome and diabolical. Wrath has a way of writing that makes you sand more and this is no different. There was a total of 12 stories and 2 being poems. My favorite stories in the book:
Joy- A woman who is unfortunately graped and deals with the stain of that on her life. Sometimes prayers may go unanswered until you pray for vengeance.
Feeding time- A woman that has a strange appetite for big cats until one day she can live out her fantasy.
After the cure- A cure is introduced to society that allows people to be immune from all disease. But the side effects, yeah those side effects they’re to die for
Describe this book in three words: Disturbing, Entertaining and Gruesome.
This is a book that requires a strong stomach and an opened mind, this is definitely a great read.

In this short collection, sex and death collide in ways that do not so much bleed as they haemorrhage imagery that is both enchanting, disturbing, sickly humourous and slyly political. Themes of admiration and empowerment for women, outsiders and the put-upon are woven throughout these gut-wrenching stories - there is as much passion and love for others here as there is a fascination with the extremes of gross-out and what the human body can endure. And these studies in extremity sometimes cross the usual boundaries for horror into the realm of the metaphysical - the conclusion of 'Like Peyote for Pimps' being particularly noteworthy here and the closing lines of 'After The Cure' will be staying with me for a long, long time. This is powerful stuff. You should check this collection out.

Wow that was a very weird and messed up read.
I'm not going to lie the lady that's attracted to Lions is going to stay in my mind rent free. What Surprise me, it was a spiciest one out of all the stories. The only story that actually made me sad was the second story with the black young girl. That one actually felt realistic not the end but her journey.
The others was not as memorable. Probably the dog one with Freddy and the guy that was eaten by parasites that came out of his dead wife anus. Okay this book is wak but I don't regret reading it.

This little book starts and finishes with such beautifully savage little poems, the words "Burn me alive in the voluptuous heat of your eyes", incredible. Each short story had such great ideas and probably the best line of the entire book in 'Like peyote for pimps' was "some pussy-hungry, psycho werewolf trick" so good. The final story was by far my favorite "After the cure", the ultimate way to die for any of us depraved sex maniacs. Can't wait to read more!

I read this novel of short stories of extreme erotic horror last night and finished it today. It is the only book of short stories I have ever read that contained short works that featured completely different themes, totally varied plots, and brilliantly original messages and execution.
A beautiful and yet terrifying poem depicting the dualities and variable expressions of love opens and closes the collection. I rated all the stories 5 Stars but for a single one which was more imaginative and bolder which I did not appreciate quite as much as all the others.
I am awarding 5 Stars because this was an impeccable display of intelligence, imagination, creativity, and writing skill. He is truly a master class author of extreme horror and erotic horror is his bailiwick. Terrific command of the material and a wizard with words.

Did I expect anything else from a Wrath james White book? Absolutely not. Like Porn For Psychos delivers exactly what it promises: Macabre Gorey Bloody Smut. I am not a huge fan of story collections, but this one kept me properly entertained. Which I already hoped for, because Wrath James White is one of my auto buy authors. There is something about his type of gore that does it for me as a deprived splatterpunk enjoyer.
I especially loved the poems, simply because they are a side of Wrath James White I don't see often.
The only reason that I don't rate this 4 stars is because it felt like some stories would benefit from being a little longer. While others feel like they should be a little shorter. It didn't really have balance in the length of the stories, and at times that bothered me a little.
In the end, I really enjoyed this collection of splatterpunk stories! Please check your triggers before delving into this one!

Now this is what I call extreme horror. This book is filled with 12 small stories all filled with sex, gore, mutilation and much more. The writer has an amazing writing that captivates you in each story. Definitely worth for anyone into splatterpunk horror.

I read this book in one sitting. Not usually a fan of short stories but Mr white could have change that. I kinda wish the book was longer. Even though the stories are gorey/hardcore/gross etc his stories are really easy to read, I picture everything clearly and that's not always a good thing!

Another delicious collection by Wrath. This is a short book with several short stories and 2 poems. I've learned to appreciate Wraths poetry because it's sexy, it's insane, it's offensive, and it's all beautifully written. In just a couple of sentences, he pulls you into some of the most depraved scenes, and you can't help but love it. My 3 standouts in this collection are:
1) Kids: Jeff was tired of feeling belittled by his girlfriend, and he finally took matters into his own hands.
- This title is deceiving, and I loved the surprise!
2) The Strange Lusts Of Hypocrites: This story shows that politicians are corrupt and will stick themselves in anything. What happens to said politician in this story is simply delicious!
3) After The Cure: There is a new cure that will kill all STDs and any disease that's out there. Giving people the freedom to sleep with anyone without worrying about diseases. But what if that urge wouldn't stop? What if you couldn't control yourself and start to turn into a ravenous animal? Imagine forgetting society rules and being "free" - I can't put into words how much I love this one.

But what if that urge wouldn't stop? What if you couldn't control yourself and start to turn into a ravenous animal? Honestly....I was expecting so much more from Wrath James White.
I am a rabid reader of bizzaro and splatter horror. A friend of mine told me about Wrath James White and how he puts the greats in the genre like Edward Lee to shame. Curiosity piqued, I picked up this book and settled in for the night, expecting to be blown away.
The one good thing I can say about Like Porno For Psychos is this....at least its a short read. The book barely scrapes in at 100 pages or so, and I had finished it in roughly an hour's time. At least I only wasted an hour's time on it.
The stories are really nothing special. There is no thinking outside of the box or creativity being cultivated here. 90% of them are your basic sex mutilation stories with a splash (and that's being liberal) of gore thrown in here and there.
Maybe I'm just desensitized, but these stories were not gory, they were not imaginative and they were not interesting. If you enjoy formulaic "Tales From the Crypt" type horror that has been done to death, or if you're a horny 12 year old boy who giggles at the mention of breasts and vaginas (seriously, I know the book is called Like Porno For Psychos....but the stories in here sound like something a sex crazed goth teenager would come up with) then this is the book for you.
Seasoned fans of bizzaro and splatterpunk should look elsewhere to sate their palette. I might give Wrath James White another try in the future, maybe this book was just a fluke and he writes much better stuff....but I was turned off and bored by this sophomoric excuse for horror....and that my friends, is the kiss of death to any author, boring their audience.

It's extreme horror, with a lot of sexual content, just as the cover promises.
It's well written. There are a couple of poems among the content, but even the prose pieces have a rhythm to the words that suggest a poet's pen. That doesn't mean they're any less extreme, though.
All except for one piece. In one story, when I was half way through the language seemed to become a little bit repetitive, a couple of things went on a little too long ... not by pages, just by a sentence or two, enough to make it feel a little laboured ... the same words and phrases were recycled several times. Just in one piece, and I'm not going to say which one. Because as I reached the end of that tale, I realised it was quite deliberate and meticulously done, conveying the message of the piece on an almost subliminal level.
And there ARE messages in these stories, though you have to discover them, as with all good art. Nothing is for nothing. There is some very sharp commentary here.
My favourite piece was probably 'Feeding Time', but the whole was good.

If you like hardcore horror - don't take this shit too seriously, okay, 'cause it's so over-the-fucking top it's absurd - then this book is worth a shot. It's quick and easy, and dirty as hell.
Just the way I like it. Reminds me of hanging out with my friends and talking about fucking each others' granny, and giving each other sisters' rimjobs, and trying to gross-out each other; the first one that said, "Jesus Christ dude! That's fucked up, man." was the pussy.
If you're easily offended and suffer from a weak stomach then don't touch this shit.
