I really enjoyed this rare book, I got it from a charity shop and I always look for really obscure titles. The author of this book was an RAF officer in World War Two who went back to teaching. This novel reflects the English public school system beautifully and greatly outlines the frustration of a brilliant teacher. It made me wonder if our school system has actually improved in producing well-rounded individuals. I'm not saying schooling in the 50's was better but I'm not sure we've progressed in the right direction...a recommended read if you can find a copy!
