Private investigator-slash-crime writer Kit Angelis is closing up shop when trouble walks in. Blond, as usual--the sexy sleuth's favorite flavor.

But this damsel really is in distress: covered in blood, she's carrying a wedding dress, a bagful of cash, a recently fired handgun and Kit's card. And she can't remember a thing...

Suddenly Kit is embroiled in a deadly mystery...and the key is this sultry stranger. She might be a killer. Or she might be totally innocent. All Kit is sure of is that this woman is going to be the hottest thing that ever happened to him...

Carolyn Fulgenzi was born on 28 July 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, daughter of Janet (McLaughlin) and Andrew Fulgenzi. She graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit and completed her undergraduate education at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She continued her studies attending Syracuse University receiving her Master’s in English Education. After retiring as a teacher with the Fayetteville-Manlius School District, she joined the faculty at Syracuse University as an adjunct professor in the writing department. Concurrently, she was also teaching at Onondaga Community College.

Carolyn blamed her tenth grade English teacher for nudging her into the writer's life. Sister Rose Terrence insisted that she enter a short story contest sponsored by the Detroit News, and Cara won! Of course, she was thrilled with the award -- a dictionary that still sits on her desk -- but at that time, her goal in life was to become an actress, and eventually, she attained that goal. She married Mr Hanlon, and had three sons: Kevin D., Brian A, and Brendan J. Hanlon. Only after her three sons were born that she turned her full attention to writing again. She sold her first Temptation to Harlequin in 1994, and that book, C.J.'s Defense as Carolyn Andrews, also sits on her desk -- right next to the dictionary. Since 2000, she wrote under the pseudonym of Cara Summers. She believed that her background in theater had influenced her writing, allowing her to create new characters and bring them to life for the reader. She passed away on 10 September 2013.

The P.I.
3 Stars

P.I. Kit Angelis (who also unnecessarily moonlights as an author) becomes embroiled in a strange case of murder and kidnapping when a beautiful woman suffering from amnesia walks into his office covered in blood, and carrying a recently fired gun, $20,000 in cash, and a wedding dress.

While the characters are appealing and the case is intriguing, the pacing is choppy and the insta-lust is over the top.

Kit and his mystery woman have an immediate attraction and amazing chemistry; nevertheless, their sexual escapades are not all that believable.

As the details surrounding the investigation into the heroine's identity slowly emerge, more and more characters are revealed and it is not always easy keeping track of who is who.

Despite the above-mentioned issues, the book is well written and the story interesting enough to continue with the series with each subsequent installment focusing on one of the other two Angelis brothers - Nik the cop and Theo the defense attorney.

I didnt realise this book was part of a trilogy until after I'd first finished, The cop. The storyline overlapped and blended so much, that i dont think it made a difference to the reading order. I did enjoy the second book more than this one. Could be I just have a thing for cops!

B330 Jun07 PI Kit Angelis, crime writer, has a blond woman walk into his office with blood on her skirt, a large bag filled with $20,000 in cash, clutching a wedding dress and his business card, and no memory. Oh, and his 2nd sight tells him she is the ONE! Really enjoyed the first novel in the Tall Dark and Dangerously Hot series.

Cute romp of a story about a amnesiac and the P.I. she hires. The San Fransisco setting was great, as were the descriptions of Greek french fries. I could have done without the psychic mom who let herself in to her kids' apartments to "pop something warm in the over"...a little too creepy for me.

I absolutely adored this story! Mystery, suspense and steamy romance has The P.I. working on all levels. There was one major flaw that should have been caught by the editors, but even that won't take away from the 5 star rating this tale deserves. I can't wait to begin the next book in this series!
