If you have an interest in any kind of history, or need a real sense of what people did, ate, wore, etc during a particular era, this series is a fun resource. Well illustrated from contemporary sources, but older (so all are black and white), the series includes what life was like for aristocrat and peasant alike in Egypt, during the Middle Ages, etc. This volume treats life under Louis XIV in France. The vivid details and examples communicate what life was like as the book also traces political developments, and historical events that impacted people's lives. Interesting, well broken up, easy to read and digest.

I have always been interested in
the daily life of people in
different countries so I found
this very interesting.

Not an encyclopedic tome.

I found this well written and
incredibly interesting.
