I was born and raised in Massachusetts and moved to Georgia in 2004. I'm the mother of three beautiful children, Zackary 18, Blayke 13, and Ema 10. I've been married for 10 years to a wonderful man who always seems to keep me grounded. When I'm not writing novels, I enjoy reading, going to the movies with my children, walking through trails, and bowling. We have three dogs and several cats. Living my life as it is, I feel blessed, so I always remember to pay it forward to others. I've been a Partner's in Hope member of St. Jude's Hospital since 2006 and give to my local community, The Sharing and Caring Place in GA.
I truely enjoy Saving Bobby. There were so many different things that made this book great. There was passion for the love of a son to a mother. Hope, laughter, a journey of friendship, and bravery. In the end, you will be shocked with such delight at how the story unfolds with all the characters. I can't wait for new books by this wonderful author. A must read!!!
I must mention that I don't read books. I find them hard for me, but I must tell you that I read this one and couldn't put it down. I found out how to get in touch with the storyline and I can tell you that I will now read more.

I gave Saving Bobby and 4 outta of 5 stars because it is a story that I like and it was sweet and endering book.
Bobby is a 13 year old boy that doesnt have a lot of family and when his mother is sent the to the hospital all Bobby could think is why me? As a person that has lost her father and has lost many family and friends to cancer I knew what Bobby was feeling. Every where Bobby goes he is told by everyone that they will pray for his mom but for Bobby at this point he is questioning why his mom and not him. When one night at his Uncle Tony house Bobby gets it in his dead to find someone to save his mom since he thinks the doctors are not doing enough to save her. As Bobby sneaks out of Tony house one night and start his search to fine another hospital or doctor to help his mom he means Annie a girl he thinks might look familer to him but she is willing to help him find someone to help his mother. So with the help of Annie Bobby is on a mission to find someone and along the way Bobby meet people that help him to realize that he needs to put his faith in God and trust that God knows what he is doing. As a person that believes strongly in God I have always believe to put your problems in God and he will take care of it. It takes many people along the way to convince Bobby that he needs to do that. Reading Saving Bobby did make me cry & smile and the ending was sweet and I believe the true meaning of this story is when something bad happens that praying really does work and God is out there listening you just have to talk to him.
At a very young age Bobby's father left him and his mother to their own devices, now 8 yrs later they both realize that he isn't coming back and their life must go on.
On his 13th birthday his mother insists on throwing him a party, in honor of officially becoming a teenager on his way to adulthood, becoming a young man. But little did he know his whole and world as he knew it was about to come tumbling down around him.
From a child to a teenager with the weight of the world on his shoulders Bobby goes through so much, as he learns that his mother has been diagnosed with cancer in her kidneys.... determined not to lose anyone else in his life that he loves most importantly the one person who has always been there for him, guiding him through his life, step by step. The one person who loves him unconditionally - HIS MOM- Cancer is spreading faster than the doctors thought it would and time is running out for his mom. He has to do something and do it something fast, to do everything that he can to save her. Not knowing what to do or where to turn so many people have told him that they would PRAY for her, not having much knowledge on faith or God Bobby is at odds with himself. Can God be the person to turn to? What would he say to God if he was to pray to him, asking for his help in saving his Mom from this cancer that is spreading faster and faster?
Taking a leap in faith he says a prayer to God asking for him to save his Mom from the cancer, after all it couldn’t hurt could it? Still not feeling that he was doing everything he could, he starts to form a plan and then setting it in action. Looking for help on his own Bobby embarks on a journey no matter where it took him or how far.
After running away in search of a way to save his Mom, Bobby comes to meet a young girl named Annie also a runaway. Together they take off on a journey where along the way they find a friendship that lasts forever and the true meaning of God.
This story is an awesome heart wrenching story!!!! It will leave you believing that there is a God, and that the faith is out there for you to reach out for, taking it into your grasp.
I truly enjoyed this, highly recommending to others. Thank you so much Crystal for this truly intoxicating novel.
Ms. Cattabriga, you brought me to tears numerous times with this story, it was fantastic. What a heart-felt story you wrote. More so, what a priveledge it was to read it. This story is about a 13 year old named Bobby who’s celebrating with the few friends that he and his mom have at his birthday. She has a special friend named Tony that visits her often and owns a meat market. Bobby’s favorite friend of all is his Uncle Johnny. Johnny is in the military and is missing but Bobby feels he will see him one day. His mother takes ill needing a kidney transplant and Tony has Bobby stay with him. In the meantime, Bobby is determined to find anyone that can save his mom. He then meets Annie. Annie teaches him what it is to believe there is a God and that he is there for you whether you see the signs or not. Footprints in the Sand is mentioned a few times in this book. I loved this book. If I could shout about this book from the mountain tops of the world, I would. This is a fantastic, heart-warming book and well worth the read.
“Saving Bobby” is a lovely, heartwarming story about a young boy undertaking an extraordinary journey to save the life of the one person he loves most – his mother. Told with sheer honesty from the point of view of a thirteen year old boy whose life unexpectedly changes for the worse in a matter of minutes, we get to know Bobby as an ordinary and uncomplicated kid whose life revolves around that of his mother, and the lengths he would go to, to save her.
This book has surpassed all my expectations and delighted me with a fast-moving plot, and a storyline that begs the reader to believe in miracles, angels and a world where people still care about each other. The only downside I could find is that it needs some editing, but other than that, this is a story that will stay with the reader for a long long time.
I highly recommend this enchanting book for fans of Christian fiction and anybody in the mood for a tearjerker read.
This book is about several weeks in the life of a 13 year old boy who goes through a life-altering event. He's on a quest to save his beloved mother from organ failure. He meets a teenage girl along the way who changes his view of important things. She accompanies him on his quest. God is one of the focal points of the story, but it's not preachy, and the story is about other things too. The story is told from Bobby's POV. It's engrossing and a lovely story for ALL ages. There is quite a wonderful surprise at the end. Whether anyone already has their faith or is looking for it, 'Saving Bobby' is a great book. It's also one that grade-school-age kids would love to have read to them, and adults will also enjoy.
Saving Bobby was an excellent read that I could hardly put it down. I gave it a 5 star rating. It is s very touching and moving Christian book. There are so many life changing events for the characters that it really gets intense, but in a good way. I love how God is incorporated into this book. This is a must read book in my opinion! @:)
A very sweet and, at times, bittersweet tale of a young man and his love for his mom. A nice way to portray a young man's relationships and coming to have a relationship with God. Easy and enjoyable reading for many ages.
I got this as a free Kindle book, so for that matter, i shouldn't be so hard on it. I apologize ahead of time for my very frank review.
Hearing the synopsis, first off, it sounded inspiring, and it sounded like it had some similarities to a story that i had started writing. So, i was hoping it could give me some ideas for how to make my book flow well. With that mindset, though, i became extra critical of every possible detail.
The spelling and grammar wasn't too great(of course, there's been much worse, though), flow of time didn't seem existent, the author didn't stick with the way she decided the story would be told(at the beginning, Bobby starts telling the story from a year ahead, but it continues on in present tense), most of the characters weren't believable and it took almost half way through the book to connect in any way. After finishing the book, i still feel i don't know this Bobby kid. But, most irritating of all was the lack of Biblical truth. Or, rather, the UNbiblical things that wound up being the basis of the book(..I'll explain in the spoilers). And i do wish that Jesus was shown more for who He is!... He honestly was barely there.
I think this book had a lot of potential and some good parts....I loved chapter 7. But it really needed an editor and a little more thought. Thought on how to really put us into Bobby's head...make us feel how he feels; Thought on how to show us more, by the characters' actions, the truth in the things they claimed; Thought on what little things could make each character individually themselves; Thought on how to pace out each piece of the story, so the reader can vividly see it and feel it..not getting their imagination cut off by an abrupt shift, going to a new paragraph; Thought, especially, on what the readers are to get out of it, and whether what is being spoken of is fully, Biblically solid.
The author came up with a very moving story idea, though. And i'm glad to hear it did move some people! I really liked Annie(for the most part); she was a very sweet, charming character and inspired me to want to reach out to people more often, in the way she does..! She was a very strong character, but yet, at the same time, she turned out to not be as strong in some areas as she really ought to have been. But, i liked her, while i really didn't grow to like any of the other characters in the same way. I never knew the others, and how they felt and what they did wasn't believable enough. I couldn't quite feel the story. And after a while, it honestly wasn't feeling it was ending soon enough.
Saving Bobby was from start to finish a delightful read! I love Christian literature as long as I don't get the idea that the author is preaching! Never once did I get that impression with this book. as a matter of fact this book has two of the most fundamental values I hold dear in Christian literature and life. First of all I do not believe that saying you are a Christian makes you a Christian, I believe that living a good Christian life is what makes one a true Christian. Saving Bobby was a story of finding and living a Christian life. I loved Bobby for portraying that so beautifully. The second value I hold dear is that I personally do not believe Christians should remove themselves from the so called secular life. In this respect Saving Bobby did not disappoint either.
I found the writing beautiful and simple, but never patronising. I don't believe that this book can nor should have, a target age audience. I honestly feel that any person will, regardless of age, love this story. I cried through large chunks of this book and believe you me, that takes some doing! I loved the story! The book is set against lessons that Bobby learns at school regarding JFK and his life. Bobby is a typical boy who loves academia as well as sports, reads and enjoys movies etc. Bobby, I believe could be any readers son, brother, nephew,or neighbour. I love how respectfully though forthright he communicates with his elders in this book. I love Saving Bobby and if you find my use of the present tense strange, don't, I will read Saving Bobby again and again. It is an enriching story that I would advise all to experience with me.
I give this book a seven out of five star review. I loved it, could not put it down, recommended it to friends and I am planning on buying it for family members. I loved it that much!
Crystal Cattabriga currently has a competition running where people need to send in the very last sentence in the book Saving Bobby, perhaps this is why I remember the sentence so well, but I doubt it. My first thought as I read it was that this is such a beautiful way of saying we are saved through Grace. My second thought is that this reminds me somewhat of the second call to prayer the Iqamah used in the Muslim faith, especially after the first call to prayer is whispered by an Iman into an infants right ear known as the Adhan. The Iqamah is then whispered into the left ear, promising that if you keep the faith, salvation will be yours.

Experience this journey with Bobby and Annie and feel the power of true determination, and what God can do, if you just let Him into your heart.. In His Honor is the much anticipated sequel to Saving Bobby, Coming March 2013 The Review I am not really into Christian fiction, as I feel that they always try to push the word of God down your throat, but this one was an exception, my friend had read this and suggested I give it a try, as she believes it was no where near what my expectations would be, she was right, I enjoyed reading this one, I really felt so Sorry for Bobby, his life was not that great and it just kept getting worse, I had tears reading through a lot of this book, I suggest you have tissues at the ready when you read this as it was a real tearjerker, I loved the character Annie, she made the story for me, The author must have had an experience of knowing a Cancer sufferer to know the hell that everyone goes through when they find out what is wrong with them, There were some happy moments in this book, I would highly recommend this to any of my friends after a great read, 4/5
Thirteen year old Bobby is on a quest to find more time or a kidney donor for his mom. She is in desperate need of a new kidney due to cancer. She is all he has left in this world. He has no other relatives other than his uncle and they recently got notice from the military that his uncle is missing in action. But he doesn't believe them, he feels in his gut that his uncle is alive.
Bobby is staying with a family friend while his mom is in the hospital. He decides to sneak out one night without telling anyone and hits the streets for answers that might help his mom. When he starts out on this quest he makes friends with a young girl, Annie and she joins him on his journey. It is very clear that Annie has a personal relationship with God. Bobby doesn't know God or what He is capable of doing if he would just believe in Him. Bobby watches Annie as she share her beliefs with strangers about the power of prayer if only they would have faith in God. Annie tries to tell Bobby who God is and about Jesus. But he isn't sure he believes or trust what Annie says about God.
Any mom reading this story will freak at the idea of this young boy out on the streets alone. And why does so many people know this girl Annie and don't seem to be concerned about her? Where is her parents? Why is she on the streets? Why doesn't she want to go home? I had so many questions running through my mind.
This may be a Young Adult book but don't let that stop you from reading this book. Also you better make sure you have a box of tissues at hand because you will need them.
I have had this book on my to read list for some time now. I am so glad I was able to work it into my schedule. I'm sure you will enjoy this book as much as I did.
I highly recommend this book!
I rate this book 5 out of 5.
Disclosure I received a free copy of this book from the author for review. I was in no way compensated for this review. It is my own opinion.

REVIEW: I liked the storyline in this book as it reminded me a great deal of the old TV series, Touched by an Angel. This story is a delightful journey of a 13 year old boy who has lost all of his family except his mother who is diagnosed with kidney cancer and his mother's brother who is MIA. The focus on Bobby's search for God in bad circumstances, the miracles that he encounters and the care shown by others around him draw him deeper into a relationship with God. There were some grammatical and punctuation errors that bothered me as I read and should have been corrected by an observant editor, but overall a good plot with interesting characters.
FAVORITE QUOTES: "Remember that we have to put our faith in Him (God) and trust in Him always. That's how it works. God doesn't want us to go to Him only when we need or want something--He was us to have Him in our heart always."
"Never wait until tragedy strikes and then ask God why? Many people do that and then they blame Him for what happened."
In the first chapter is tells you about Bobby's family dynamics, which sadly is made up of his mom, him, and his uncle that is MIA.His daddy ran out on them and other family members have passed away.Bobby's mom is a single mom doing her best to raise a teenage boy with love and discipline.Bobby does his best to be a good boy.He doesn't really have any friend but puts all his time and energy into excelling in school.Reading this first chapter I could relate because I am single mom of a teen girl and a boy who is year younger than Bobby.I found myself reading the first chapter from a single mom's point of view but also from a boy with no father point of view.I was instantly thrown into the story and captivated by this. Bad as things may seem, they are about to get worse.Bobby's mother is sick and he thinks he can find a way to help her because he is afraid the doctor that is treating many not find a way to help her in time because her condition is rapidly deteriorating. So off Bobby goes on this journey. He meets a run away teen named Annie that decides to help him on his journey. Bobby keeps meeting people who say they will pray for his mom.Not growing up in church, this perplexes him. Occasionally Bobby will say a quick prayer to God to heal his mom but he isn't sure he believes in God.He doesn't understand why God would let his mom get sick. But every time he steps into a chapel, church, hears someone talk about God, or say they will pray his mother something pricks at Bobby;s heart. Author Crystal Cattabriga has captured me with another heartfelt story, Saving Bobby captured my attention from the beginning.I immediately threw myself into the story.I could not put it down,I so wanted to know if Bobby finds a way to help his mom,if he finds a way to open his heart to God,and who is this Annie girl who knows so much about God yet is a runaway teen?
"Saving Bobby" is amazingly, the most heartwarming story I've read all year. You will not be disappointed when you pick this one up. I was given this book by the author herself, and I am so glad that I got the chance to read it. This is not my usual genre, but this story won me over.
Thirteen year-old Bobby's life starts to turn for the worst on his thirteenth birthday. When he finds out that his mother is sick from cancer, and does not have that long to live, he does everything in his power to save her. During his journey, not knowing where to go or what to do, he finds company of a girl named Annie. Annie, accompanies Bobby on an unforgettable journey to save his mother, and to save himself. He never believed in God or miracles, but Annie slowing guides him in the path to God. Bobby starts to see God's work and accepts him into his life and heart.
This was an incredible read about God, miracles, angles, and heartbreak. This is a story that will truly stay with me for a lifetime. I love everything about this story: the courage this young boy has and everything he will do to save his mother; the unforgettable plot that will have you in tears; and most importantly, the miracles that God will do if you believe and accept Him in your heart.
I loved that this is the type of story that does not push God on you, it simply "shows" you what God is capable of. I would definitely recommend this book to others who want to enjoy a heartwarming read that will stay with you forever.
Overall, I really enjoyed Crystal Cattabriga's Saving Bobby. This lovely Christian teenage fiction novel, follows Bobby, a 13 year old boy, who comes face to face with a terrifying and harsh reality. Whilst in the process of running away searching for help, he begins to discover that there's much more to life and faith.
Bobby's character has been effectively and developed; he is a character that is easy to cheer for and follow. The description and level of detail that Crystal Cattabriga includes in the narrative is successfully developed and controlled. The dialogue was to some extent unnatural, which created a few bumps in the flow of the novel. However, as the story progressed, I found that the dialogue relaxed a little which made Saving Bobby become that much easier to enjoy and read.
The second half of the story picked up dramatically, drawing me into Bobby's plight and discovery. This provided me with the opportunity to truly enjoy Bobby's charming qualities. It was also with the introduction of Alice, who I immediately liked, that the booked opened up for me.
If you are looking for a novel that offers religious inspiration, regardless of age, then I am confident that Saving Bobby will provide an enjoyable and enlightening read.
3.5 thought-provoking fairies with a worthy round up to 4 for review sites.
On Bobby's 13th birthday, his mother collapses in front of a room full of their friends. Bobby learns at the hospital that his mother is dying of cancer and the only hope of saving her is a kidney transplant. But she still has several people in front of her on the donor list. Bobby decides he doesn't have time to wait on God to intervene. He is not even sure he believes in God. So Bobby takes off on a journey in search of a cure for his mother. The people he meets along the way will change Bobby's life forever. So take a seat, kick your feet up...and learn how God works in wonderful ways to do modern day miracles.
I have recently come to the conclusion I am not a huge fan of Middle Grade genres. Dialogue always seems forced, like the author is trying too hard to sound like a 12 or 13 yr old, and just cannot get it right. But Crystal’s writing changed that notion for me. Her story flowed smoothly as well as the dialogue.
Saving Bobby is a wonderful story, for any age I might add, about one child’s journey…leading him straight into the loving arms of God. If you are looking for a book about finding faith in your darkest time; a book that may very well bring a tear or two to your eye…look no further, Saving Bobby is your book.
Crystal writes heartwarming and inspirational religious based stories. Stories of faith, determination and about believing.
Im not normally one to read this genre, its not that Im not religious, but find at time authors tend to push the barriers of the religion. IN this case Crystal does not. She creates a compelling storyline filled with depth and emotion, to give the reader a heartfelt positive story of belief.
I found the story a litle slow at first, but moving on I found the whole plot and characters made it certainly an intriguing story.
Friendships were formed and faith is tested along the way. I found that Annie was a god send of her own. Not pushing the limits with Bobby but giving him hope.
Saving Bobby will leave you teary eyed in places, and also wandering with Bobby along the way to find the answers he seeks.
Read the blurb it gives you a basic outline into the story, Crystal touches death, life and many aspects of life throughout this read.
An enjoyable read, I will certainly be reading more of Crystal's stories in the near future.
My opinions on the fantastic book Saving Bobby by Crystal Cattabriga are hard to put into words because I am crying uncontrollably. This was a touching and heartfelt book that I could put down. It was such a nice change to read a book that didn't rely on violence and sex in order to sell a book. Bobby was a thirteen year old boy who is being raised by a single mother. On his birthday his life was going to become a enlightening and incredible journey that could only bring him closer to finding God. There are many people that help him on this journey so he is not alone in he world. I have to say one part Crystal makes me remember the passing of my own grandmother who was the most important person in my life through the tears I still had happy memories. She wrote about the story of Footprints in the Sand and that is something my grandmother always loved and shared with me when I was growing up. Thank you Crystal for reminding me of very happy memories and reminding me that God is there if you only believe. I recommend everyone to read this if you are needing some inspiration in your life.
I got this book from the author her self, and I am very grateful that I did. It was a wonderful read, and it made me realize some things in my own life. One there is always someone out there with more troubles or problems than you. Two, God is always around you even when you think he is not. Three cherish the people around you. Four try and pay some kindness forward.
This is a Christian book, and though I have not read many from this genre every time I read one I feel good inside. Saving Bobby, is a tear jerker! Bobby is a young teenager who goes though a time in his life that helps change him and brings him closer to God. He knew about God, but he never truly knew God. When his mother becomes very ill he tries to find a way to help her and in the process he meets a girl named Annie. As he is hanging with Annie for a few days he sees good things from her, she is very sweet and does not force God on him but she does talk with Bobby about God and the good things he does. And lets him know that God is always there listening to us.
I truly was touched by this book and I can not wait to read more from this author. Crystal Cattabriga is a very talented writer.
This book is about a 13 year old boy and his journey to save to one thing that is most precious to him, but much, much more! I have to admit, this book isn't my normal genre, but came highly recommended by several people. Since I value their opinion, I decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did! It took me longer to read this book than it usually takes for me. Why? Well, I didn't want to put it down, but had to several times due to being in tears and couldn't read the words. I found myself having to stop various times, sometimes for hours, just to pull myself together and sort out my emotions. This book will truly make you think about you own life and the ones in it. It will send you on an emotional roller coaster. I found myself crying because I was happy, sad, and just because. The author truly has a way with reaching out and touching your soul. I highly recommend this book to everyone, no matter your reading genre, or your beliefs. BE PREPARED: It is a tear jerker, will make you look at life in a whole new way, and may stick with you forever!!!
This is not the type of book I normally read but I decided to give it a shot. Warning some spoilers
Saving Bobby is a story about a boy finding God while his world seems to be falling apart. On his thirteenth birthday his mother collapses and ends up in the hospital dying from cancer. When Bobby leaves home to go out and find help for his mother he meets a girl about his age who takes him to many places that introduce him different people and many aspects of God and his miracles.
I really enjoyed this story even though it's not my normal genre. Bobby doesn't act like a typical 13 y/o though, he appears to be much younger so it was hard to remember his age in the story. I was not to fond of the end when Annie appeared to her father, I felt that Tony should have had more faith when Bobby gave him the necklace and not have doubted that Annie had been the Angel that helped Bobby.
Overall it was a great story about a young boy finding his faith and God.

Saving Bobby is the story of a boy who comes to understand what God means to him in his life and how it relates to others in his life. Bobby is devasted on his 13th Birthday when his mother is suddenly hospitalized with cancer in both kidneys. On Bobby’s runs away from home on a journey to save his mother; during his journey, he meets people who teach him about God’s unconditional love in a very gentle way. The story is told through the eyes of Bobby, the title character as he tells of the people he’s met along the way and how they treat him. Saving Bobby is a very heartwarming story. Its moral is about trusting God to know what’s right for your life. I found this story truly welcoming. Saving Bobby is told in a way that doesn’t make you feel as if God and religion are being shoved down your throat. Even those who do believe can appreciate this truly wonderful story. I found myself laughing and crying all along the way and definitely looking forward to the sequel. This ebook was given to me free of charge in return for an absolutely honest review. ~WaAr Group

Miss Crystal truly does have a way with reaching out and touching your soul, I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE, no matter your reading genre, or your beliefs. First, I must stress that this is a wonderful book for younger readers! The writing is easy to read, very descriptive without being overpowering and the mindset is that of a young boy!
Bobby's mom has cancer and needs a kidney transplant NOW or she will die. She is all he has, so, with the wisdom of a 13 year old boy, he sets off to find her a doctor who can get her a kidney. Along the way, a young girl, Annie befriends him, talks to him about God and the power of prayer, all while helping him on his journey.
When Bobby comes home, he finds that a donor has been found and his mom should survive, but he has also hurt a dear friend of the family with some of his actions. Through prayer, he seeks an answer to his problem, it comes in the form, once again, of Annie.
This is a beautiful story, written for children that will leave an impression.
6******s out of 5 OMG!! What a tear jerker indeed! I can't count how many time my heart was ripped out and laying on the floor with a half a box of used tissues laying there with it. I am not a really religious person but I do believe in angels and this book just made me believe even more!! This is usually NOT the type of books I read, but this one just grabbed me and wouldn't let go!! Such a gut wrenching, heart ripping, tear jerking story about a boy and his fight with believing GOD exsists!! This a MUST read story!! It is very fast pace and when you start reading it, you will finish and won't know were the time went! Saving Bobby just draws you in and won't let you go until you finish it! Thank you so much Crystal Cattabriga for such an awesome read!
