If there is one name that instills fear throughout the world of professional wrestling, it's the Undertaker. This 6'10" villain of the ring was once just Mark Calaway, a very tall kid who loved basketball. The life of Mark Calaway is followed in this exciting book, including his rise to fame, and the birth of his ring persona: the Undertaker.
3.5 stars This book discusses the humble beginnings and subsequent illustrious career of professional wrestling legend The Undertaker. In his childhood and college years, Mark was primed to become a basketball star. Mark decided to forgo basketball and pursue his true passion of professional wrestling. It took time for Mark to find his footing in wrestling and be dubbed "The Undertaker". Mark had multiple ring names "Texas Red" and "The Master of Pain" among the first. None of Mark's early ring names seemed to last too long. Mark received his big break in wrestling when he signed with WCW. Mark however transitioned quickly into WWE. WWE is where Mark would begin his thirty-four and counting years-long tenure as the ominous "Undertaker". Overall, I found this book acceptable. At times though I felt as if I was reading Undertaker's Wikipedia page instead of a book. The book also felt slightly repetitive at certain points.
