Finished this informative history of Spain from Neolithic to modern times on the train from Valencia to Madrid.
I’m not sure it achieves its goal of helping the reader how modern Spanish culture arose as a product of its history, but as far as concisely sketching the facts, dates, and events that constitute the history of Spain it does a good job. The details about the breaking apart of the empire amidst the turbulence of the Napoleonic era were particularly new and interesting.
