This book arranges 30 passages of Scripture that can help you keep focused on the true meaning of Christmas. Take a few moments every day during the next month and spend some time reminding yourself about the real reason for the advent season! These 30 passages are reprinted in their entirety, but without commentary, in hopes that you will enjoy reflective, undistracted moments with God’s Word.

This is basically a compilation of scriptures distributed into bite-sized readings over the 31 days of December. Some are more directly focused on the story of the Christ child, and others delve into his majesty and identity as the savior of all humanity and his fulfillment of the ancient prophecies that foretold of God's promise to reunite and redeem humanity through his Son. The scriptures featured are both Old and New Testament and show the unbreakable link between Mosaic Scriptures, and the work of the Prophets (looking forward to the awaited Messiah) and the New Testament, which focuses on the arrival of Jesus the Messiah. It worked very well as a devotional during the very busy month of December. It serves a dual purpose of reminding believers why Christmas has crucial spiritual importance and also as a reminder of our hope in Jesus. It's fairly no frills, but it serves its purpose and the scripture was food to this reader's spirit.
30 Scripture Readings for Christmas was a gem of a free read on Amazon. I could see me reading it again next year. It's great for readers who want to follow the scriptures through the Christmas story in December, but it could work any month, honestly. After all, the promised and fulfilled hope of Christmas can live everyday in our hearts.
This book does an outstanding job of gathering all New Testament scripture having to do with Jesus as the Messiah, his birth, life, death and resurrection. But then it also goes a step beyond and includes with each days reading theme, some relevant Old Testament reading, whether related to the theme of the day, or the prophecy that foretold the New Testament events of the day. I thought this was very well put together. I used it as a personal devotional, but this would be useful for choosing readings for group study or church services as well.
I did like this study better than the previous one on Thanksgiving, because it was more organized. I do have to say we read the Christmas story before Christmas, so were on on other things by the time Christmas rolled around, but still all in all it is a better study.
This book contains the perfect scriptures to read right before Christmas. The author has written no thoughts or commentaries to go along with the scriptures. Each day you simply read the verses provided, reminding you of the special story of Christmas. It goes back and forth between the Old and New Testaments, the prophecies and the actual events. Each passage may also be displayed in a different versions of the Bible than which we are accustomed to---I believe this helps pinpoint certain aspects of the telling, depending on which version is used for a particular verse. Overall, this is a great reference book to read, especially in December. The whole family could benefit by reading from it together every day!
