Noted for having the finest gardens in Fiddle-Dee-Dee Farms, the Hopkins family of rabbits discovers that fifteen eager bunnies can do more harm than good
Tomie dePaola and his work have been recognized with the Caldecott Honor Award, the Newbery Honor Award, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, and the New Hampshire Governor's Arts Award of Living Treasure.
"Too Many Bunnies" tells us a story of a family with 15 bunny children. Daddy Hopkins tells the bunnies to work together to plant radishes while he and mommy go to buy carrot seed. The gardening gets a little wild and when mother and father return there is a big mess. Mommy organizes the children and they work together to finish the planting.
teaching application- The bunny children have names with letters w, b, f, and s. The kids could draw their own bunny and think of names using the letters featured.
I love Tomie dePaola's adorable bunny illustrations. This is a family of 15 bunny kids and wow does it take a lot to coordinate that many bunnies, as you might expect. This is a fun springtime story about planting that I'm so glad has been revived. I think it's a great one to stick in your Easter basket!
Pleasant story about the Hopkins family and their vegetable and flower gardens. Mother Hopkins asks her 15 children to help. Tasks are assigned, but soon chaos ensues. Mother Hopkins brings order and in no time the seeds are planted and ready to grow. Nice illustrations.
Poor Papa Hopkins sounds just about done with the amount of his children running around... And poor Mama Hopkins seems like she's been wrangling all involved (including Papa) all by herself for a long time.
I think this title is out of print, I’ve not had the pleasure before!! Found it in my grad school collection. An adorable intro to counting book, perfect length for a bedtime read.
Daddy and Mommy Hopkins head a typical rabbit family, fifteen bunnies. Among the bunnies are several sets of multiple births and this year all the bunnies need to help make the garden. Will urban children understand all the bunny word plays in this title? I think not, but this adult reader got a good laugh from the bunny references.
