Roxanne is a USA Today Bestselling, award-winning author of forty romantic suspense, mystery, and heart-warming, emotionally charged relationship novels in the clean & wholesome, as well as inspirational romance genres.

She got her first horse at the tender age of six and grew up riding bareback with wild abandon throughout her small Minnesota town year-round. It was like giving a child car keys!

She showed horses for many years, and later, she and her husband raised quarter horses and thoroughbreds until their kids came along.

She's living her childhood dream, living on an acreage in the country with her husband, three horses (all beloved elderly pasture ornaments, now), a golden retriever, a Mountain Cur rescue, and six fluffy barn cats. It's a much smaller menagerie than when their three kids were still at home!

Ranches, animals, and small-town life frequently find their way into her books.

High School Love

Meh and Jack were both loners and had been even in high school. They had feelings for each other back then and now that Mei had come home to fulfill her part in making her Grandfather's last will complete they found their feelings had not changed. Many other things had not changed. Roxanne Rustand has written a best seller.

I've been wanting to read this particular story for awhile...it's SO much more fun to read a series in the correct order! Anyway, it was fun to revisit the Clayton cousins and to finally read about Mei's story.

The Loner's Thanksgiving Wish by Roxanne Rustand
The Rocky Mountain Heirs Series Book 5
The fifth grandchild has come back to Clayton in lieu of Grandpa George's will's requirements. Mei Clayton has never felt as if she belonged in the Clayton clan. Vern and Lisette adopted her from China and a few years later Lucas was born. She was a shy girl who may have been misunderstood as being snooty. In high school a rumor started about her feelings for Jack McCord, the step-son of Charlie Clayton. She did have a crush on Jack but it was all very humiliating for her. Mei plans on staying for her year and then return to her teaching job in San Francisco. Her first day back an accident brings her face to face with Jack.

Jack McCord is a Wildlife Biologist. He has returned to Clayton for one reason, Cade, his younger step-brother. Jack's life has not been easy. His mom is on her third marriage, his step-dad Charley was never a father to him or Cade, he can't convince his little brother not to marry so young, and now on top of everything else Mei has returned and he keeps running into her. Maybe he will have a second chance to get to know her even though they have to survive the Clayton feud to do so.

Vincent and his cronies continue to try and chase their cousins away so that Samuel's family will get George's inheritance. So far they have failed at each attempt to get even one cousin to leave town. Lucas has been out of touch so far and last they heard he was running from a drug gang in the Florida everglades and he may have a young child with him. And Darlene Perry is getting weaker from her disease but still refuses to tell anyone who Macy's father is. Great series, can't wait to read the last book.

Mei Clayton was adopted by a wealthy family from China when they learned they couldn’t have children. Mei grew up feeling like she didn’t belong anywhere, particularly after her parents had a biological child, a boy, who became her best friend. Mei has returned to Colorado from her San Francisco home to get her inheritance: she must spend a full year in this sleepy little town with her five cousins. However, the family has long been divided over who cheated who many years ago, and distrust amongst family members is common.

Mei is reunited with her high school crush, mountain rescue ranger Jack McCord, almost immediately when she tries to save her cousin Jasmine from an avalanche. Jasmine and her fiancé, Cade, however, have an idea to stop the family feud: a family reunion Thanksgiving dinner. Mei is sure she’ll never fit in with the Claytons, but Jack welcomes her back home with open arms.

I won this book from a Goodreads First Reads giveaway, so thank you to the author!!

I liked reading this novel. About halfway through, I saw on Goodreads that it was #5 in the series so I got confused that I started too late or something but I followed along just fine, and then I did some research and it's not that type of series. I thought it was a nice, heartwarming romance. The characters were believable and well developed. I did not rate it higher because I wish that the two main characters (Mei and Jack) got together earlier and there was some more resolution about their families and how their lives worked together when they actually were an "item" officially. Overall, I enjoyed it and I would probably pick up another romance novel by this author in the future.

Mei had to return to her hometown and stay a full year to fullfill her obligation to part of her inheritance. Since she was adopted, she always felt that she didn't belong but will she find out different? A boy she had a crush on in school, Jack, soon came into the picture but she was very skeptical of his presence.
This book showed faith and compassion and opened your mind to a different attitude. Was a good read.

Mei Clayton who was adopted felt that she never belonged while growing up must return to her home town of Clayton, Colorado to fulfill the terms of will so that her cousins can inherit. She must remain for one year. She also reunites with her high school crush Jack McCord but must keep her distance because of a long-standing feud between families.

Another good book in the series. Enjoyed the characters in this book and the story line. Would have liked for there to have been a couple more chapters at the end of the book. Left me wanting to read more about the relationship of the 2 main characters. Off to read the last book in the series.....

Another Rocky Mountain Heirs book. Easy to read and quick to re-engage the characters from the other stories. This one has teacher Mei returning to town and Jack from the "Wrong" side of the family as our falling in love couple.
