Rate this book
James wants to be a shepherd, just like his father--but his father tells him he is too young. So James watches and waits, playing with his toy lamb, imitating the tender care that his parents give the sheep. Then, at long list, he is allowed to go with his father to tend the sheep. Sweet story of a little boy wanting to be a shepherd just like his daddy. The illustrations tell more of a story than the text as they show James watching his father and then imitating him to the best of his ability by feeding, "shearing" and washing his stuffed lamb. The relationship between this father and son is touching!
