Frederic Sackrider Remington was an American painter, etcher, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in depictions of the Old American West, specifically concentrating on the last quarter of the 19th century American West and images of cowboys, American Indians, and the U. S. Cavalry.
Frederic Remington is best known as an illustrator and painter of the American west of the 1800’s. He was also an adventurer and writer. In this book from 1895, he chronicles his wanderings from duck and bird hunting in the Dakotas, hunting bear in New Mexico, suppressing rioters in Chicago, and handling burros, horses, and coaches in Mexico. It is a wonderful time capsule from the 19th century.
Writings of Frederic Remington and others on life in the American West during the late 1800s. There are some excellent reproductions of Remington artwork.
