Progress of Redemption : The Story of Salvation from Creation to the New Jerusalem

Rate this book
With a Christological focus, the author traces the unfolding of God's redemptive plan through twelve epochs, stressing analysis, synthesis, and application in his study of each period. His distinctive trifocal synthesis relates each biblical text to its surrounding literary, canonical, and redemptive-historical context. Striking an intelligent balance on the continuity-discontinuity continuum, VanGemeren's survey is praised by covenant and dispensational theologians alike.

I had to read this book for a class. The class was excellent, however this book was slow and hard to get into. The message of relating the different books and themes of the Bible as a whole is a great one, but the exposition of the book was not my type.

A good book, but unnecessarily long. If you have spare time and an interest in the topic, a good read. Makes use of chiasms.
