Noong unang panahon, may isang kinatatakutang dahil sa kanyang laki. Walang nakakaalam kung bakit siya lumaki nang ganoon. Dahil dito, walang damit nagkakasya sa kanya, kaya tinatakpan na lamang niya ang kanyang katawan ng mga dahon at pinagtagpi-tagpi balat ng katawan ng punong-kahoy.

Ngunit dahil sa mga kalamidad na dumating sa nayon, napatunayan ni Tanding kung gaano siya halaga sa mga tao.

A long time ago, there was a man whom everyone was afraid of because of his size. Nobody knew why he grew so large. Because of this, there were not any clothes that fit him, so he covered his body instead with leaves and bits of tree bark patched together.

Bit because of some calamities that came to the village, Tanding proved how important he was to the people.

About the author

Segundo Matias Jr. is a recipient of numerous literary award giving bodies, which include three Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, the Philippine’s most prestigious—known as the “Pulitzer Prize” of the Philippines—and longest running awards program. Mr. Matias has also written screenplays for major movie outfits, as well as teleplays for various TV shows before entering the world of children’s literature. He is also a publisher and has published over 1,500 books for children and young adults. He is currently taking Masters in Creative Writing at the University of the Philippines—Diliman.

Malaki ang higante pero mabait at tinutulong niya ang mga tao kapag may problema/sakuna. May part ng kuwento ay maiiyak ka at worth talaga ito basahin sa mga bata.
