Baggage is the first of the Journey Series concerning the relationships of four women, their lovers, family and friends all of which become invisible “baggage” on life’s journey. Together these four ethnically diverse friends set off on a quest for independence, identity, love, and adventure. Leading the reader on a journey of friendship, discovery, ruin, and ultimate triumph as they navigate their way from Arizona to Florida, then New York, France, Spain, and Scotland, bringing each character closer to discovering what matters most in this world. Baggage handles the intricate, intimate lives of women as they deal with family skeletons, sexually transmitted diseases, self-esteem, and accepting responsibility for ones choices in life.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia in the same house as her mother in the same town as several generations of her family there were not many places or people Tanika encountered that did not come with a backstory. She learned the symbiosis of family, culture, lifestyle, and camaraderie of the city nicknamed Everyone's Hometown.
Tanika's love of the written word, science fiction, and all things history have cultivated a love for ideas, adventures, and love stories. She reads profusely, devours Koontz, Gabaldon, Hart (Rob), Follett, and anything else she can get her hands on.
