From ghosts and ghouls to werewolves and vampires, there's nothing strange about growing up in New England. Mythology and legends tend to run wild in most parts of the Northeast, and when you're raised with it, you tend to draw on it for inspiration. Ghost stories have always been part of childhood, but what happens when those stories follow you around? You write about them of course. Dawn takes life in the mountains, and twists it into her own. Most recently doing so with "The Pack," a dive into the hidden world of a people not unlike us, who hold a secret... their relation to the legendary werewolves of old. This book series came along from a ten-episode season written for TV, and has taken on a life of it's own.

My favorite book genre for the last few years has definately been vampire/fantasy stories. I always love coming across a new type of vampire storyline. It keeps it interesting. The Vampire Legacy: The New Queen Rises by Dawn Gray is just the first book in a series. It's very well written and causes this reader to wait with baited breath for the next book in the series, as I'm sure it will do to you. To make this book just a little better, in my mind, it takes place in Connecticut, my home state.

The Vampire Legacy is the story of Ashley, or Ash for short, who moves to the ocean side town of New London, Connecticut at the age of 15. On inspection of her neighborhood she, quite literally, runs into Julian and his three brothers. Upon touching him she feels an immediate sense of calm and a response inside of herself that her young mind can not understand. Almost instantly Julian and Ash become inseparable. They spend the next few months sneaking around to be together whenever they can. Until the day an old woman comes to her home and tells Ashley's parents she is in danger, due to Julian and his brothers. See at this point it seems only appropriate to tell you that Julian and his brothers are vampires. Also, Ash is apparently the Queen of Vampires. Therefore Ash's adopted parents, not knowing she is also a vampire, take her away and brainwash her memory of the boys.

Ash and her family return every few summers to the victorian home. Ash occasionally sees Julian and his brothers but does not let on to them that she remembers so she can save them from danger. Flash forward a few years. Ashley now lives on her own, with a friend named Lauren, and has been in a serious relationship with a man named Jack Wolf and trying to get pregnant. Ash runs into Michael, one of the brothers, in the mall and the friendship resumes. Not long after Jack and Ashley get married she becomes pregnant. Soon after having the a son, Jackson, Ash's husband disappears from his car with a cryptic note "We have him, he has gone home to be with us and it's his own fault" left behind. Ashley accepts that he has another family and resolves to raise Jackson right, until the night Jackson is stolen from their home.

Ashley now knows that her son being taken is vampire related and returns to New London to ask Julian and his brothers for help. Here is where a love triangle is created, a super villian or two is introduced and other numerous twists and turns will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, turning the pages to find out the fate of Ashley and her son. I guess you'll have to buy the book to know what that is though, right? With a great cast of characters and a well written storyline you won't be sorry. In fact, you'll be asking for book two.

Thank you for reading! Enjoy your book :))

I loved this book! Its full of love, loss, deception, and Julian Deveraux! Wow, hot stuff, but I would have to say it maybe a toss up between Julian and his brother!
There's Julian Deveraux, who happens to stumble too soon into the girl that he automatically ran into and cant have feelings for because he is suppose to protect her and he struggles with that his whole life.

Then there is Julian's brother Quinn, who all his life has tried to compete against his brother for eveything, including the girl they both love and need to protect. Only Quinn goes much farther than Julian did at catching the girl but in the end Quinn finds another and Julian gets his girl!

Then there is the girl in question, Ashley Benson, Ash, who gets pushed into the water by a boy with the most beautiful green eyes ever and falls for him the more they hang out together. Then Julian is sent away and Ash has NO idea why and Quinn takes over protecting Ash while Julian is away. Then Ash is forced to forget Julian, Quinn, and the other two boys to save their lives for 6 yrs she had to pretend they didnt exsist! Until she gets older, gets married to the man she loves and has a child named Jack. And after Ash's husband dies her world gets turned upside sown again and Quinn comes back to save her and help find her son who was stolen from her! Julian finally comes back fighting his emotions and Ash and Julian try to avoid each other! Makes them farther apart and thats when Quinn comes in and sweeps Ash off her feet. Then in the end they take care of the bad guys and Ash gets Jack back and for now all things are calm except for the fact that Ash is the Vampire Queen!!!

Thanks Dawn for the awesome book!!

well I didn't actually finish the book, I really wanted to enjoy it but it confused the hell out of me, I kept thinking I had missed parts, right from the beginning I couldn't keep up with it, I tried to keep at it because of the great reviews and when I was getting it I did enjoy it, but sadly I started to get a headache from trying to figure it out and I gave up :(, It just seemed a bit rushed like the author had the story in her head and just had to get it out without taking the time to explain it a bit better, Ashley seemed to have a personality disorder, one minute she was all grown up then the next she acted like a right child, blacking out a lot and walking out of rooms for no reason. I gave it 3 stars as I didn't finish it and maybe if I had been able to get in to it more I would have enjoyed it

I received an e-copy in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book. It is full of vampires, fate, and destiny. There is a twist around every corner. I can't even tell you which character I like best, because I loved them all in their own way.

Ashley knew she was different for the rest of her family, but she never realize she would unfold just how different she was. As who she is unfolds, she learns that several things in life have come into play because it was fate, and the other part was planned. With all her new learned information, she has to figure out if she wants to continue on with what is meant to be or write her own destiny.

I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

This book is a great Vampire love story, with some extras thrown in!
Ashely grows into this strong fabulous woman who will not let anyone take what holds her heart. She falls for 2 brothers and has to deal with a evil Vampire along the way.
This book kept me up until 2 am because I had to know what happens. I really hope there is another one!! I would love to see where Ash, Julian, Quinn, Lauren, Michael, and Jack end up.
It really is an excellent book!
So if you want a Vampire love story with some evil, fighting, loving, and of course biting then this is the book for you!!
BRAVO BRAVO!!!

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

The Vampire Legacy #1

Not your typical vampire story, this is a great start to the series and I was soon happily engrossed in Ash’s story. I loved the way it went back and led you up to the events to come. Well written and full of action, I can’t wait to see where the story is going to go next.

I was given an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

It was...uhmm... nice? Well it is a good story, but the phasing is too fast for my taste, Ash and the whole being the queen, but I don't find the love interest that good. Ash goes for Julian, then goes to Quinn then goes back to Julian.

I didn't hate it, but I don't love it too.
