Details the lives of one hundred remarkable women who changed the world, from Madame Pompadour to Typhoid Mary, delving beneath the surface to uncover powerful personalities
Kind of an odd book. Malcolm Forbes, financier, millionaire, and founder of Forbes magazine, is also a history buff, and decided to write this book. It has short, (2-5 pages) essays about many women throughout history who have made a difference. Sometimes it is a small difference, but nonetheless, all the stories are interesting. There are no footnotes or references of any kind, so you are just assuming all his information is accurate. Interesting women, and deserving of some recognition, but you have to take this book with a grain of salt.
Three page summaries of the the magazine publisher Publisher Malcom Forbes thinks are women who madea difference.the list maybe fine but the bios are so abbreviated as to be bordering on rumour. Better would be to take the list and llook up their lives in the encyclopedia.
I didn't find this book that interesting. There were a a few women listed who I thought had interesting stories but the rest......either I really didn't know or I had no interest in them. Someone else may find this book fascinating but I did not.
Forbes was working on this book when he died and his son finished it. It's not only good women- it's ones who changed the status quo. Interesting, though I know I won't remember names.
