I read Shades Of Grey by Pruitt last year and really enjoyed it, so I jumped at a chance to read Taken and I'm glad I did. This is a fantastic PI story with a lot of hot and steamy action going on both in and out of the bedroom.

Yeah. I said hot and steamy.

Like sizzlin' hot and steamy.

Melts ice, hot and steamy.

Have I mentioned hot and steamy?

OK.

Frankie is hired to find the cousin of a lawyer in the DA's office. But this is more than just a missing person's case as they find out through a little sluething. This is something big! Really big. Oh and Frankie has "The Sight." She has an ability to slip into a person's mind, which is how she found Audrey Clark and a whole lot more about her. I like how this helps set things up in the story but doesn't take over the story. For the most part, this is a good PI story, with lots of sex!

Pruitt has created a fun cast of characters for this series. Jack is super sexy and so is Ian, aka Lawyer Boy...and then there's Casey Lynn and the doggie Monster, not to mention Johnny. One of these characters won't make it to book 2, but I'm not tellin' which..because you really have to read it.

There's one more thing about Jack and Frankie...they have a bit of a criminal past..and Jack and Frankie aren't their real names.

Want to find out more?

Read the book! You won't regret it..this was a good one.

Book Synopsis

Cheating spouse? Stolen jewelry? Missing person?

Call Frances--Frankie--Post. A private detective with a trick of two up her sleeve and a few skeletons of her own.

What starts out as a simple missing person's case dumps Frankie and her lover Jack right in the crosshairs of a dangerous human trafficking organization. With lives on the line, bad blood and old wounds finally see the light of day. And Frankie and Jack are forced to realize: The past always catches up with you.

My Thoughts

L.M. Pruitt Has taken a simple premise and created an extraordinary story and one of the coolest female characters I have had the pleasure to read in a very long time. Taken: A Frankie Post Novel is the first in what I hope is a long running series with P.I. Frankie Post and her detective partner/lover/best friend Jack Waters. If the next book is half as fun as this one count me in with no reservations. The two main characters are crafty, clever, somewhat shady but oh so mouth watering steamy together that you forget that this is a suspenseful mystery as the scenes with Frankie and Jack always seem to somehow end up with sexy byplay! Not only was this a book that totally kept me riveted to my seat it also was fast and easy to follow from the first page to the last. The story line was in no way lighthearted but it had lighter moments that cropped up to break up the tension for the reader. I am now a firm fan of the author as have previously enjoying reading her first book in another series that I am looking forward to getting to further pursue if time ever permits. If you enjoy fast paced banter, quick plot changes and quite a few hot and heavy scenes that explore the sexual exploits of Frankie and Jack very explicitly than this one will keep you reading until it ends!

GENRE: Mystery
THEME: Erotic Romance, Thriller

REVIEW:
Frankie Post is a private detective with a dark past and has an interesting way of finding anything. When a young girl goes missing Frankie does what she does best, goes face first into the case. This one being a dangerous human trafficking operation, while also risking exposure to her past life.

Taken is a very intense novel, the characters are feisty, steamy and snarky and it really brings to life this paranormal crime story. Though Frankie is the lead female her male partner and lover Jack made the pages sizzle with the sexual tension. They have a long and dark history together and have done everything to keep it hidden, until this case.

The plot is pretty intense with the subject case, though I would of liked to see more of the paranormal element of what Frankie can do. It wasn’t talked about as much as I thought it would be, but if your looking for a crime novel this is the main focus. Frankie and Jack are the key characters and they make some pretty steamy moments with some of the secondary characters as a couple, if you know what I mean.

Overall this was a great twist in the crime genre and had a lot of romance, shocking story turns and entertaining characters. My only complaint is that I just couldn’t connect with any of the character emotionally. I’m a reader who always finds that one character that I just loved and it makes me keep on reading till the end. But I really couldn’t find a character that I really liked; they were interesting and entertaining in their own way but none a favorite. The most interesting plot surprise was the ending and I’m interested to see where Frankie and Jacks new journey takes them.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is an adult novel with sexual content and should be read by those who are 18 and older. Fans of the passion and writing of Stacey Kennedy and Stephanie Julian will enjoy this steamy crime-fighting novel.

L.M. Pruitt does it again! Ms. Pruitt knows how to combine a great story, amazing characters & just the right amount of wit to make me want more & more. Taken was funny, sarcastic, witty & so hot that it almost singed my fingers! Frankie & Jack are perfect together and their passion & love ignite the page (Kindle in my case, lol) without being too sweet. Their characters are strong, independent, cunning & smart but still have a vulnerability to each other that makes their love transcend the pages and keep you wanting more.

Frankie & Jack have known each other practically their whole lives. They only have each other to depend on while trying to run from their past. Along the way they take on different identities and lead a vastly different life that allows them to help people. Jack as a police detective & Frankie as a private investigator. When they get a case that turns into something larger than they ever imagined, it could be the end for them.

The story flowed & transitioned at a great pace which kept me turning the page. I must admit that at the beginning, I was a little lost and not sure if I was going to like the story. However, once it picked up, I never looked back and was completely enthralled with to the very end! This is definitely a series that I'll be waiting anxiously for the next book and an author that has been added to my new favorites list.

There were so many aspects of this story that I enjoyed I don't know where to start. Let me begin with my final opinion, there really isn't anything that I would change about the characters, their depictions, the style of the story, the narrative or the mystery. This is a well done tale. I found Frankie and Jack to be interesting, vulnerable but very tough characters with great dialogue and charismatic personalities. Their backstory and current case were solid and compelling. Monster was an awesome pet and great element in the story. I even found the villains to be intriguing. I found the treatment of Frankie & Jack's arrest warrant to be particularly satisfying. And speaking of satisfying, Frankie and Jack have a smokin' love life with different visiting guest stars. The scenes were really well done, didn't feel contrived and frankly (no pun) were HOT.

Another excellent book by LM Pruitt. The story has everything I need to spend my Sunday on the sofa. Smart witty likeable characters (I want to be Frankie) clever dialogue, action and twists in the tale..... oh, and hot men, which means a healthy dose of smut! PI Frankie Post and her sexy detective boyfriend Jack Waters try to solve the case of a kidnapped woman, sounds like a simple story, but thanks to the twists, it isn't.

My thoughts:
Once again L.M. Pruitt has created characters that are amazing. Frankie is fantastic! She is smart, tough, stubborn, and loyal to the few she counts as friends. She is my favorite character in the story.
The story itself is wonderfully entertaining, nicely paced and well written. The plot is intriguing and suspenseful.
I truly enjoyed the book. The ending SCREAMS for a sequel....
