Given to me by a friend at church, this book explains in understandable terms, the essence of Preterism (that Olivet Discourse prophecies from Jesus were largely fulfilled in the fall of the temple in Jerusalem in 70AD). There are many serious theologians who hold to this view, and I would agree with much of what is stated. However, I don't believe that it is the whole picture of end time prophecies. I just picked up Kim Riddlebarger's A Case for Amillenialism, which I believe is a fuller explanation of the end times.

My eschatological perspective has been all over the map, over the course of my lifetime and in various churches i have attended. This book, given to me by a friend, was a great and concise book to discuss the difference between Preterism and Dispensationalism or Futurist thinking. I was glad i read it. It's great material if you are trying to understand and clarify your understanding of the last days before Christ's final return.

This is the book that pushed me out of futurism, and away from any vestiges of agnosticism long ago. In this classic introduction to bible prophecy, Gary Demar gives you the Old Testament background necessary to understand the Old Testament-heavy passages of the New Testament. This work mainly exposits Matthew 24, Jesus' Olivet discourse. One can not read this work and finish without thinking that Jesus was a religious and Jewish genius by the way he interpreted the Old Testament and applied many passages to himself and to Israel's future. Another joy of this book is the numerous selections from 1st century secular historians. Demar has an eye gifted for historical discernment. Every Christian must read this.

I had never heard of Preterism. The Preterist explanation of Jesus' Olivette discourse is interesting and bears careful comparison with the current Futurist explanation. The Preterist explanation is that the tribulation already happened in 70 AD when the temple was demolished and sacrifices to God ended. The author expounds the Preterist view scriptural verse by verse in a clear, concise manner.
Having been raised on the hope of the second coming, this idea is more than a little disquieting requiring much prayer and study.

An overview and examination of Matt 24 and a presentation of the timing of the great tribulation based on internal scriptural evidence concerning the prophecies and following corresponding events. As a straightforward style and a quick read, it makes a good introduction to the preterist viewpoint of the Matthew 24 passage as well as other passages of scripture concerning the great tribulation.

The dispensationalists are wrong. This book shows that Jesus' prophesy in Matthew 24 was fulfilled in the first century. The truth will set you free from apathy and fear.
