This wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be and wasn't really what I was looking for. This was geared more for the teacher or homeschooling parent that the parent of a school aged child that was struggling with school, not really struggling with learning or testing.
However, this is a great book for gaining insight into teaching methods and the way different kids learn. It is sometime hard even as adult training others to teach differently that we ourselves learn. I can appreciate how people take in information differently.

Some really great ideas and take always of how to teach all different kind of kids and solve problems kids might be going through. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it seemed a little outdated. Thankfully, a lot of her ideas I have see in my daughters public school. Which is a great thing!

I loved that this book provided provided suggestions for how to help your child deal with school, especially that it addressed how much or how little you may be able to address your child's needs in different school settings, Also provides excellent insight to what may be adding stress for your child when it comes to learning in various settings.

Good ideas and strategies to add to a classroom. I used some in my new 6th grade classroom. I feel like I can better relate to the older children, and they seem to appreciate it.

This was a quick, easy read. I felt it was more suited for those in an educator role, but still was able to find some tidbits that would benefit me as a parent and advocate.

I thought that I was a mainly visual learner but after reading this book I realized I am actually auditory. I learn by talking about what I've read or writing about it. Otherwise I don't remember it or I will procrastinate on a project. I work well in groups or with a study partner. Anyhow, after 20 years of schooling I also realized that I have tried many learning styles and strategies and quite possibly have developed into a different style. I think I started off a globAl thinker but became an analytic. I guess you eventually mold a square peg into a round hole. This was a great resource to help your child fit into school better or rather to help the school fit your child better. It's best for young kids.

This book breaks it down so you understand why students "hate" school. The interesting thing though, is that students wouldn't hate school if teachers and parents would take the time to understand what is going through their child's head. Each and every one of us has a way in which we learn something. What we have to do is find out what type of learners we have and use that to teach our students. When reading this book, I could easily remember going to school and having difficulty learning and know I know why. Give it a read and discover what type of learner you are and how you can use it to benefit your classroom or children.

I found this book interesting because it talked about environment and the impact it can have on a child's ability to learn. I had never given much thought to things like light, temperature, or snacking while learning and how it could impact how well kids learn. Some good insights came from this book.

I love Tobias's books. It came at a perfect time when my daughter had a teacher who did not help her learn, squashed any enthusiasm my daughter had, and the teacher had a criticizing spirit.
