“Almost there… Ah… twenty-three twelve,” he announced proudly. Almost on cue the swirling miasma cleared and I caught sight of bright sunlight filtering through a huge domed ceiling.
Ruth Clarke had dedicated her life to caring for her ailing mother. At her mother’s passing, Ruth now has a fresh start on life. In an effort to do something new and different, she volunteers for a time travelling experiment. She travels 300 years into the future, but instead of merely observing life in 2312, she is part of it. She’s propelled into another woman’s body. The young beautiful body of a woman named Anita, who is a member of a group traveling to a planet called Terron. A treaty between Earth and Terron requires that young single Earth women visit the planet so Terron males have a chance to find their mates. A Terron male’s body responds when they find their mate so they know instantly when they come in contact with their true love. A Terron, Jordan Demantena, discovers Anita is his mate. Of course, he doesn’t know she’s really Ruth from 300 years in the past.
The novel is full of action and adventure – spaceships, political intrigue, and an explosion. It’s also a lovely romance between the humanoid alien, Jordan, and Ruth in Anita’s body. The love scenes are hot. This is a fun read that I highly recommend.
I was pleasantly entertained by the storyline of this science fiction tale. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed reading about their lives in a distant galaxy
With a title so full of cheese that it could easily pass for a Welsh Rarebit, and a Kitch Regency Cover image I was dubious to say the least for this offering.
It isn't something I would usually go for, but as I've got a two fold challenge for myself this year (to read as many freebie downloads and widen my book horizons) I decided to risk it.
What I got from my perception of title and cover combined, was in fact so very different, and a real treat in point of fact.
The Prologue was the weakest part, as it was claggy and a little confusingly written. I would seriously suggest a some re-working should be undertaken to fix it, which would go a long way to ramping up the book's possible rating.
Whilst I loved Ruth/Anita characterisation, it was a little weak in places and a tiny bit of a pity fest.
I completely fell in love with Jordan. My favourite scene is where he scents his mate.
There were minor typographical and grammatical errors, which it would be nice to see fixed. There were additionally inconsistencies in names - this is a bug bear of mine - however the writing was overall well done and the problems mentioned didn't irritate me overly and put me off the book, or alter the ultimate rating.
This could easily run the distance as a full length piece of fiction if it could be tightened up and developed a little more.
Having gone into it expecting nothing in particular, I was very pleased to find that actually it was difficult to put down, so a 4 star rating (4.5 if I could) for this offering by joint authors.
I am looking forward to the next in the series, and will be downloading that very shortly. I can't wait to find out what happens to the smelly and stained Professor.
As a footnote, I notice that neither of the authors have "About me" pages on Amazon. It would be very nice to find out a bit more about them.
I'd give this book 3.5 stars and that is mainly due to the world building. I loved the descriptions of the planet Terron and how the treaty with Earth came about. The reason for not giving it more is because I didn't feel the romance aspect of the book was fully fleshed out. Without doing massive spoilers it just seemed they fell in love because they should, if that makes sense? This was a problem for me especially due to the fact that Ruth is in someone elses body (Anita). Due to the fact Terron males find there 'mate' through smell I get wondering if he was smelling Anita or Ruth. I mean would your smell change if your brain changed? So I wasn't sure if his true mate was Ruth or Anita? It could just be me misreading but I didn't feel these questions were really answered. Saying that I did really like both the hero and heroine and thought they suited each other, I just wish they had spent more time getting to know each other before all the drama started. I'll probably buy the next one in the series as I loved the world that the author built and I think anyone who likes science fiction based romances or books with a good amount of world building would enjoy this book!
A freebie by two authors I'm unfamiliar with, so I thought I'd give it a try.It has several intriguing concepts stacked in the plot line, along with two interesting main characters. I can't say that that story doesn't have a few flaws along the way, but I still want to know where the author is going with the characters and story line to continue reading. There are areas that would have benefited from further development but there's more than enough present to understand what the authors intended. I'm considering the purchase of the next book at $2.99 to see how a few of the dangling threads are dealt with. I'm certain that some with be handled there. I must say I'm curious.
PS. I'm not crazy about the above cover but the one that came with mine looks like it belongs with a regency romance...it doesn't match the content at all. It's just strange for the title/content and cover to be so different.
While I liked this plot and story line, even enough to purchase the sequel, I gave more latitude in this book as it was a free one. Upon discovering the same lack of editing and abysmal grammar in the sequel, I would implore you not to waste your money supporting an author who clearly doesn't care enough to hire an editor, nor is she possessed of enough writing ability to even know she is wrong, as the same errors appear in multiple works. Learn the difference between "to" and "too" before touting yourself an author please. And SHAME on this publisher for its sheer lack of caring to publish such poorly written rubbish. I'll never purchase another book by this author or publishing house again, that is how much the glaring errors detracted from the story for me. Not even worth it for a free book!
I read this book easily through, found it entertaining enough and enjoyed the ideas the writer had about the world in the future. The title is actually the only really bad thing about this book ;-)
This story is about an ugly older woman who volunteers for a time travel experience and finds herself in the body of a beautiful young woman in the future, about to get married to a handsome man from a different planet. Lucky her - of course, she doesn't agree with me, at first ...
I would probably read a book by the same author again, but I wouldn't exactly put it on the "must have list".
This book had great potencial but it over complicated itself with the time travel and new body aspect. I would have just liked to be in the future world. If the writer wanted to deal with the idea of a woman who had lived half her life without really being in her body, I think that with some of the anti aging stuff this could have been handled so that the women were not always so young who traveled. And the scientist was ickyl. lol
But the world building was good and the romance. It is worth the read.
The title I know does not sound promising but this story is actually quite good. I read it on my phone kindle app and when I should have been sleeping I was instead zipping through the pages. I suppose I liked the idea of the main character finally finding love after her downtrodden existence at the start of the story (I shall say no more). On the whole, a good read.
I really enjoyed this romance a middle age virgin.Finds herself in the future in a different body. And finds herself going to a different part of the galaxy. Where she meets and falls in love with an alien.Who happen to look very human. It plenty of humor and action to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I love this story so far. The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars was the fact that there are many typos. I must've seen at least 10, and I wasn't really counting. But most people aren't as grammar nazi as I am. if you like Christine Feehan's Dark series and anything sci-fi, you should love this.
I enjoyed this book, it had a completely different take on time travel than I have ever read before, it was unique. I do agree with other reviews concerning the grammatical errors. I was able to ignore most of them, but I found myself having to reread several
Despite the fact the title was horrible, I overlooked it cause the book was free. It wasn't a horrible book, but the POV jumped around a lot and it was a bit jarring. Didn't feel the characters were very developed either.
This was a real good read. Will look for more of these authors. Don't really know what to call this kind of book, it as TT, space traveling, body possession all mixed up in one. Fast read, cute easy story to follow.
well developed characters , battling evil in a fast paced romp thru time and space. I. could not pit this story down. leaving me at the end hopeful for the future..
Very good world building and the main characters are well rounded but it needs an editor and the missing words or misspelled words were very distracting. I actually think the rating should be 3.5
Unorthodox alien story but enjoyable, the ageing process is fascinatingly insane. I wonder if a story can be made for Logan, I feel quite sorry for him, maybe a reversal of his situation hmmm.
I really liked, this except for the spelling errors. There were enough that I noticed them but not so many they turned me off of the story. The story itself was creative and pretty well fleshed out.
