Shane Keith Warne was an Australian international cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in the history of the game. In 2000, he was selected by a panel of cricket experts as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Century, the only specialist bowler selected in the quintet and the only one still playing at the time. He was also a cricket commentator and a professional poker player.
Reading about Shane Warne was hilariously awful, and hence why I give this 2 stars rather than 1. The guy is virtually illiterate, can't put a clear train of thought together and, most importantly, can't write. His opinions about the game are routinely way off, and, even with the help of a ghostwriter, this book still comes across as hilariously awful. I laughed in this book, but I was laughing at how awful it was, not at any deliberate comedy. Shane Warne is a lot of things but he is not a writer.
This only covers the early years of Warne's career, it ends just before the 1997 Ashes series. It not very in depth and isn't overly insightful either, but what this book has going for it is how its written! Its written in a style that's very easy to read and you will find yourself finishing this book quite quickly. I would leave this one to the collectors tho, cos the average cricket fan probably won't enjoy it as much as the book is around 15 years out of date.
