Mock the Week's Funniest Book of All Time

Rate this book
The bestselling stocking filler returns, though you might want to give granny her Christmas sherry before she looks at "Mock the Week's Funniest Book of All Time" is an hilarious, edgy collection of brand new gags from the team behind the popular panel show. It includes categories such as Unlikely Dictionary arsehopper (n.): small green insect that lives up your arse. I may have misheard this. Unlikely Village Clegg-Under-Cameron; Cock-on-the-Curtain; Tinchy Stryder ...Unlikely Things to Hear During School 'This year's Speech Day has of course been ruined by those silly boys who assassinated Mr Bartram ...' Unlikely Things to Hear on Downton 'Mr Bates' leg? He hurt it helping Otis Ferry throw a fire extinguisher off Nelson's Column at a Countryside Alliance march.' Unlikely Crosswords You won't get this (12, 4, 3, 5). This refers only to this and the previous three "MTW" books, and even that's a matter of opinion...

Disappointed that the good humour is outnumbered by swearing and repeated sexual references.

If you enjoy Scenes We'd Like to See, you'll enjoy this and the other Mock the Week books. Get them cheap or secondhanf and they make great Father's Day presents or toilet reading.

Yes, there are a few witty one-liners sprinkled here and there. Overall however, the content relied too heavily on crass humour.

Leave it for the when you're having a poo, not recommended for the longer constipation sessions though.

This book was occasionally funny but it was very hit or miss for me. I laughed when the jokes were clever or involved fun wordplay but I found some of the jokes kind of mean and flat out awful. It reminds me why I don't really watch Mock the Week as much as I used to. Although saying that I think some of these jokes might have come across a bit better on screen rather than as words on the page as some comedians could probably lift up the material with their performance and charm.
