Just recently I was given the three Toy Story movies, which I would never have thought of watching otherwise. Still, Christmas evening and the next two nights, out they came.
Somebody subsequently asked me which I liked best. I have to say number two as it captures so brilliantly the nature of the collector, the horrible Chicken Man. I guess I've been both sides of that, the collector turned seller and yep, inside we all have the heart of the the Chicken Man. Boy is that a hard confession to make.
I was also asked which character I liked best. Buzz, of course, with his never give up optimism. Just thinking about that makes me feel like I could ingest a little of it right now. Mmm. That feels better.
I found number three a little odd compared with the others. Adult themes, and really scary. Still, I guess kids simply see different things from adults in movies and may not have felt the discomfort that I suffered in this one. It didn't seem to have the funny relief of the others, it was just nasty.
There's that thing about presents. Do you buy something YOU like, or something you think the other person will? I'm not sure what it was in this case, but it worked. Smiley face.
Have you ever watched Toy Story 2? If you have then this is a retelling of part of the story where Woody finds out that there was a TV show made of him and his team Bullseye, Jessie and The Prospector. But Andy's old friends do not want to let him go and go on a search of finding him. This book is about 40 pages long and is perfect for bedtime. The illustrations match the story and also the movie if you have seen it. If you like Toy Story then you will like this book.
This is essentially the story of the Toy Story 2 movie, just very abbreviated. It is chopped into sections, which make it possible to read it one part at a time. Given it's condensed nature, there are a lot of details that are changed or omitted to keep it a good length for a child's attention span. The pictures are the real highlight of this book, which are beautifully done.

The pictures in this book are very creative. I like that the main characters in the book are pointed out and are bigger in the pages. The book goes right along with the movie which helps students relate and connect them together. The book definitely tells a story in the adventure of Woody and his gang. I like that the important words are in bold on the pages.
Read this to my son who complained it was too long. Guess He didn't find it as entertaining as the movies. Basically, it's the movie summed up into about 30 pages. Cute book but maybe for a little bit older child than a 5 year-old.
Well, I usually do not like books written for a movie franchise HOWEVER, I'm in love with this book. It stayed true to the movie and didn't skip any parts.
