The Larion spell table has been dormant for nearly a thousand Twinmoons. It waits in a forgotten chamber in Sandcliff Palace, the abandoned Larion Senate stronghold on Eldarn's North Sea. The spell table holds the power to see the people of the five lands safely through the oppression and brutality that have haunted them for generations, but without Lessek's key it is a worthless slab of granite - and Lessek's key itself is just a nondescript stone Steven Taylor and Mark Jenkins overlooked on the night they fell through the far portal into Eldarn.
Retrieving the key and freeing Eldarn's people rests with Steven Taylor, the would-be sorcerer from Colorado, who is racing across America with Nerak, the fallen Larion dictator, hot on his heels. Steven must reach Idaho Springs and find Lessek's key before it falls into Nerak's hands and is lost for ever - and with it, the lives of untold millions, in both of Steven's worlds.
As the second book in the Eldarn Sequence, Lessek's Key started out strong. Gripping and action filled from the beginning. Admittedly, the undeniable deaths of certain characters is disappointing, but helps add emotional depth to the story and remaining characters. The middle did seem to slow a bit, taking on a more formulaic fantasy approach, but overall, a wonderful middle book
I should say that this book has more action and a faster read than the first, however I liked both very much. Still keeping me awake late until I can’t keep my eyes open anymore. Looking forward to the third.
really enjoyed this book, even better than the first and not such a mammoth read! . Good plot fast paced and if you like fantasy novels you should enjoy this. Warning you will have to read the 3rd to find out what happens!!ahhh
This is Book 2 of a trilogy, about 200 pages shorter than the first book and to be honest I think the characters would be seriously knackered if they had to do anymore bloody travelling as that’s all they do all the damn time!!! For pete’s sake let’s get somewhere goddamit!!
I really like the characters and they are in serious peril most of the time and this is not one of those books where you know they are going to survive each time oh no imminent death awaits them around every corner and some of them don’t make it - sob! So it is a pretty tense read.
And then the cliffhanger ending - which leaves you 😲🤯😥🥺
As a sequal to The Hickory Staff this one was a little more enjoyable then the last one but the annoying deaths contiued. I don't mind a few main characters deaths but when it happens every time a couple forms it gets old really fast.

This has left me on a cliff hanging by my finger nails and now I find there is a third book. I would not have started on such an epic if I had known, but then I would have missed this great adventure
This is Book 2 in the Eldarn series & I enjoyed it more than Book 1. It may be because ground work had already been laid in previous book but I found there was more action in this one. Looking forward to the 3rd & final installment.
book 2. i liked it - the characters are still engaging, their predicaments seem real and there are enough groups/plotlines to be interesting without losing track of who's who.
