Christmas Past and Stranded in Time (her first time travel novel taking place in the 70's) is a favorite among fans. Her novels all center around a trip of some sort and are written for the New Adult genre, with characters in late high school/early college.

Young Adult who-dun-it author Kelli Sue Landon has delivered another winner!
Every high-school grad looks forward to spreading their wings and what's better than their first vacation without Mom & Dad? Deb and Kim are looking forward to the beach parties, making a documentary on their own and long hours of doing nothing but dreaming of the future and college. Deb's going to become a filmmaker, Kim dreams of becoming a famous chef.
Then their summer documentary leads them into a web of secrets complete with skeletons in the closet and danger.

Kelli Sue Landon has done it once again. She has created a young adult novel that will hold its readers on the edge of their seat to finish it. Most teens will be able to identify with these characters. We’ve all had friends who moved on without us because we no longer fit into their mold. It may have been due to finances as in this case. When Deb started hanging out with a richer class of kids, Kim no longer fit in. She was a good old stand-by when Deb’s wealthy friends were unavailable. Maybe that is why Kim was invited to spend the summer with Deb at her parents Wisconsin retreat.
Both girls have great plans for their futures. Kim wants to be a famous chef. She has known this ever since her mother ran out on them when they were younger and she had to take over the household duties. Deb has always wanted to be a journalist. In years past Kim was the one behind the camera filming Deb doing the “reporting”.
Upon arriving in Wisconsin the girls go to eat at a local diner and learn of the arrest of a local serial killer. This is when Deb’s plans to make a documentary about the area changes. She wants to film inside the killers beach cottage and maybe get inside his head. Her decisions put not only herself and Kim’s lives in danger but also the lives of two of her local friends.
Like all of her books, you think you have it all figured out and then the twists and turns take you some place else. I can’t wait to put this on my shelves at school. This is another great book that many of my students will be able to relate to.
I will recommend this book and will look forward to reading whatever she comes out with next.

Deb and Kim haven't really hung out since elementary school, in fact, since shortly after Kim's mother left her family. Deb is now part of the "in-crowd". Out of the blue, Deb invites Kim to her cottage for the summer - no parents included! Kim accepts the invitation - hoping for one last chance to repair their friendship. They are even going to spend the time doing what they used to do way back in elementary school - making movies - a documentary about the area.
Shortly after arriving, the girls start hearing the town gossip about a recent serial killer. Deb decides to change the focus of their documentary - no longer a quiet survey of the area - but true investigation of the killer and his family.
Things get a little complicated on both fronts when Deb's ex-boyfriend, Rusty, shows up. Kim discovers the real reason she (and not Deb's popular friends) was invited on this trip. Rusty turns up everywhere - sending Deb into moods, and ruining their plans.
Since the is my first first-read, I really wanted to love it, but I found a few problems. There were a few editing issues - missing words and odd verbiage. Almost the entire story was told in dialogue, which I didn't really care for. Finally, so many side stories made for a rather rushed and awkward tie-up. YA mystery fans may enjoy this as a light-read, but fans of more adult mystery series may have a hard time pushing through.
