The newest animated feature from DreamWorks features major voice talent, gorgeous artwork, and an underwater comedy that's leagues away from anything else.
Shark Tale tells the story of Oscar (played by Will Smith), a fast-talking little fish who finds himself in hot water when he is mistaken for a hero. At first, his fellow fish swallow Oscar's story hook, line, and sinker, and he's showered with fame and fortune. It's all going along swimmingly, until it starts to become clear that Oscar's tale about being a great hero sounds a little fishy. Now Oscar has to tread water until he can get the scales to tip back in his favor again.
Personal Response: I read this book to a little girl named Madison that rides my bus. While I was reading this book I asked her certain questions like , if she thought Lenny was going to actually eat Oscar she said that he wasn't going to eat Oscar. When Lenny's dad Don Lino had the anchor fall on him I asked with great emotion if she thought that Don Lino was going to die she said that he was going to come back to life. While I continued to read this book she kept telling me what she thought was going to happen. That Don Lino was going to come back and find Lenny in the whale wash and tell him that he loves him for him. She had also seen the movie so she was very excited to have me read the book.
Plot summary: The book Shark Tale was about Don lino wanting his son Lenny to be a killer shark. It all started when they had shrimp for dinner Frankie Lenny's brother ate all the shrimp but Lenny just couldn't eat all the cute little shrimps and Don Lino Lenny's dad got upset because Lenny is a shark and should kill things. Don Lino brought Lenny out to find a fish named Oscar tied to a rock getting stung by jellyfish. Don Lino told Lenny to eat Oscar or don't bother coming home. Lenny went to eat Oscar but cut the string that he was attached to and told him to swim away Don Lino seen that the Oscar was not dead and went to get him he hit a anchor and was knocked out Lenny thought that his dad had died so he swam away taking Oscar with. Lenny begged Oscar to hide him so that his brother could not find him. Later a shark swam by looking for Lenny and found him in a whale wash it was his dad he was so happy but thought he was going to get yelled at but instead his dad told him that he loved him for him and that he could come home. Recommendation: I recommend this to book to anyone who baby sits or has younger siblings that would enjoy this book. It is a very easy book for little kids under the age of ten to read . Also if you like to read funny easy books that are short with pictures I would go with this one.
