Wanted: Demon assistant for incubus genius. Personal services required…

Nobody ever expected to find a secret cave protected by a giant puzzle door in the mountains near our village. Even more surprising was the knowledge that it’s been there for thousands of years and was created by a dragon. I’m not the only one who’s dying to find out what’s inside.

It’s no hardship to assist the puzzle expert who’s coming to solve the door. That thing is an incredible feat of engineering, and the man who’ll solve it is bound to be intelligent and interesting. But from the moment I meet Camden Torrence, I’m forced to reassess… everything.

He’s intelligent and interesting, sure. But he’s also scattered. Clumsy. And I want to bury my face in his mop of curls and stay there forever.

A relationship wasn’t on my agenda, no matter what my matchmaking family wants. But as the weeks go by and we get closer to discovering what the secret treasure is, Cam becomes an integral, undeniable part of my life. How can I not fall for a man who, despite past hurts, is the living embodiment of sunshine in our snow-laden village?

I never thought the love of my life would turn out to be an adorable, absent-minded incubus, but now I can’t imagine existing without him. The challenge? Convincing him to stay even after the puzzle is solved.

LOUISA MASTERS started reading romance much earlier than her mother thought she should. While other teenagers were sneaking out of the house, Louisa was sneaking romance novels in and working out how to read them without being discovered. She’s spent most of her life feeling sorry for people who don’t read, convinced that books are the solution to every problem. As an adult, she feeds her addiction in every spare second, only occasionally tearing herself away to do things like answer the phone and pay bills. She spent years trying to build a “sensible” career, working in bookstores, recruitment, resource management, administration, and as a travel agent, before finally conceding defeat and devoting herself to the world of romance novels. Louisa has a long list of places first discovered in books that she wants to visit, and every so often she overcomes her loathing of jet lag and takes a trip that charges her imagination. She lives in Melbourne, Australia, where she whines about the weather for most of the year while secretly admitting she’ll probably never move.

Honestly this is soooo cute and soooo much fun to read. Grinning the whole time. This series and all the spinoffs are freaking addictive.
Also, this family, OMG, this matchmaking is so hilarious.
I love the plot here, especially everything to do with the big puzzle, and I especially love Cam being so crazy and focused solely on that.
He definitely needs someone like Micah in his life; they are perfect for each other.

He hands me a packet of lube. “Take care of this, will you? And then you can fuck me until my ass reshapes itself to fit only you.” 🤭🤭🤭

What would be worse, insulting the dragons and causing political mayhem, or karaoke with a hellhound? It’s hard to say. 🤭🤭🤭

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS DEMON FALLS FOR INCUBUS ROMANCE

Loved, loved, loved this book.

Everything about it just worked for me, from the low angst, the sweet romance, the cute and completely clumsy Cam and the put-upon Micah, who quickly learnt he didn’t at all mind when it was Cam he was helping.

There’s not much going on in the wider Hidden Species world other than the demons continuing to try and find ways to bring more members of the community to live in their far flung Alpine town.

Obviously most of this book is about incubus Cam working to solve the puzzle and open the door found in Asher’s book.

No spoilers here but I loved the way his fixation on the mechanics of working it out and his attraction to Micah all end up jumbled together into a funny narrative.

We also get guest appearances from a few of the other guys including Gideon, who has a ridiculously amusing conversation with his cousin Micah about his feelings for Cam which had me laughing.

I’m seriously stoked now for the final book in the series which will see Zac get his happy ever after!

Like wow...

Reading this was like being back with the Scooby gang and I loved every bit if it.

Spoilers ahead

So we met Micah, a cousin of Gideon, the demon partner of Sam the lucifer, way back in the short story of when Sam met Gideons family. He is the second cousin to find love while opening this secluded demon village. Micah is an architect and like all of these demons, has severe RBF.

Cam is an incubus who is scattered brained, very clumsy, and is good friends with Alistair, the hellhound from the OG series. Cam is there to solve the puzzle door in the dragon hoard cave.

Its like an instaconnection when they meet, but like most mcs, they both didn't want to actually communicate that they had feelings for each other. Gideon actually called Micah and talked about his feelings for Sam.

Side note, I'd do anything for a Demons Do It Better with Gideons pov. As much as I love it, it really needed a second pov.

There was this weird side story about Cam having a stalker, but honestly, it didn't add anything to the story and was resolved very much in a silly way. I think it was supposed to be "rah rah I'm standing up for myself" but it didn't read that way.

The mcs from the next book, Ronin and Zac did not come across as people you wanted to root for, I'm hoping their story has a good redemption arc.

Lastly, the books in this series are not stand alones. There are so many background players in these that most people will be lost trying to figure out who is who. Which is ok, I recommend reading them all. I have read the Hidden Species series over and over again as they make me laugh. I recommend reading them in audio, the narrator is perfect.

"I'm never letting you go now."

Micah is the second book in the Demons-In-Law spin off series and I liked it just as much as book 1. Cam is absolutely adorable and I honestly wanted to wrap that man in a protective layer of bubble wrap like some previous acquaintances of his have suggested. It was so sweet how Micah just automatically started taking charge of protecting Cam from himself. The incubus may be absent minded, but he's also incredibly clutzy due to his spacey sense of self-awareness. I'm glad he had a full time keeper in Micah because he totally needed one. I can't even count the number of times Micah saved him from walking into something or the number of bruises he ended up with at the end during the times Micah wasn't able to catch him before incident. He's just precious.

I enjoyed getting to know Micah better too. He's smart, yet humble. He finds Cam's clumsiness endearing which is a nice change from what most people feel in Cam's presence. Also the fact that Cam is an incubus makes their steamy scenes quite the good time. Micah is no slouch in that department either. It was cute the way they both worried how the other person was going to take knowing they were catching real feelings. Of course that anxiety could have been avoided if they just talked to each other, but the way they went about it was way more entertaining in my opinion. Let's just say that Gideon once again gets roped into "feelings" talk and he is not a happy demon about it. Which now that I think about it, he is rarely a happy demon at all. Except when he's looking at Sam.

I enjoyed seeing cameos from some of our old friends and I am also super intrigued by the next couple. Something is definitely up with Zac which makes this the worst possible time for him to have everyone clamoring to find him a mate, including his terrifying grandmother. The fact that we know his mate is the dragon Ronan, Steffan's twin is a bonus because let's just say these two do not like each other very much. Enemies to lovers for the win!

I can always count with Louisa when I'm in a funk and need a pick me up. Fun, cuteness, sweetness, demons with an RBF, Alistair and his plots... Definitely worked to cheer me up a bit.

3.5 stars. Micah the scary-looking demon will be the assistant of a genius expert in solving puzzles.
He has to teleport Camden Torrence to the snowed village in the mountains, to solve an ancient giant puzzle made by dragons. It’s hidden in a secret cave. Micah will be his assistant. Which means they will be together on a daily basis for probably weeks.
Micah’s demon family lives in the village and oh boy they can’t be ignored, they are there loud and clear.

Cam is an incubus, he needs to enthrall people and gain sexual energy to hold his own life energy on an acceptable level to function. He only does it with consent.
Micah wondered because he felt things when he was around this delicious creature.

Cam is clumsy, chaotic, and a slob, but Micah saves him more than once, there are some hilarious moments to find.
Before they know they spent a bed together.

There’s fun, banter, nosy family, and keeping an eye on the scary older woman, Damaris Bailey, the head of Micah’s family. And there’s the puzzle of course.
A nicely written low-angst story. The fun level is more present and higher than the romance, that part was a bit obvious. The characters are wonderfully portrayed.

A demon falls for a nerdy, clumsy incubus? Okay, I'm in. I love Micah and Cam so much. Especially Cam. He was so obliviously unaware of a lot of things when his puzzles were involved. The way Micah cares for him was just the sweetest. The ending was a little odd and felt sudden, but other than that, I absolutely loved this one. It's fun, it's entertaining, it's a little spicy, and it's a lot adorable. All in all, this was a great time.

I just loved that book, it was light, funny, caring, such a sweet love story, I love these demons and I was so happy to see Micah having his happy ending.

After discovering a giant puzzle hiding the thousand-year-old hoard of a dragon, the village has to contact a specialist and here Cam enters the scene. This incubus is all over the place, very clumsy, very messy but such an amazing and sweet man. Micah has been charged to help him get ready and to bring him in and out of the cave every day. At first, taken aback by Cam’s personality, he didn’t know what to think about him, but he couldn’t resist his simple charm.
While trying to solve the mystery of the puzzle and spending so much together, they will not be able to resist the attraction between them, especially with the interference of Micah’s family 🤣

I just love that series and I’m soooo excited for Zac and Ronan’s book !!! I cannot wait to know more about Ronan, I just want to hug him 🥰

I received an ARC Copy of this book, this review is from my own thought 😍

Team MiCam all the way!!!!

I can’t believe I’m about to say this, and I’m peering over my shoulder as I say it, but I would like to formally request a meeting with Damaris because I. Need. A. Demon. In. Love of my own. I am smitten with this world. I love the camaraderie, the friendships—though some may be grudging—the hilarious hijinks, and above all the way these characters find the one meant to be.

“Even though I’m not completely certain that what I feel is love—too soon—I know it could easily become love, if given the chance. And knowing that, I’ll happily and with gusto rip apart anyone who dares upset Cam. The thought actually makes me a little giddy. I wonder if Cam would appreciate seeing me smite his enemies?”

I mean I’m swooning, are you? I am in love with the chemistry, the connection, and yes, the love because Micah is head over horns for Cam. And who wouldn’t be because Cam is obliviously adorable, want-to-squish-his-cheeks-and-endlessly-hug-him adorable, and I fell for him about the same time he literally fell. Ah, and the puzzle, it’s fascinating. I wish I could see it in person and I am so eeking excited for the next book as it’s gonna be devilishly good.

Low angst, sweet, steamy, mysterious with a tiny hint of danger. It all makes this a great book with great characters you come to love. Super goofy incubus Cam and his passion (obsession) with puzzles, and Micah who was just sweet and caring and just excellent boyfriend material from day one.
Asher's book left us with the mystery of the dragon door which is a puzzle so they needed a puzzle expert and that's how Cam entered the picture. Being an incubus he got right away how Micah reacted to him so from there to sharing fun naked times, the way was short. We get lust at first sight which evolves into something more. And with the evolution and the appearance of feelings we get less steam but more sweetness which was just as great. I have zero complaints. Then we get a hint of Zac's book and I am so curious!! These demons are just so much fun to read about. We have two cousins settled down and happy, now it's time for the third cousin and I just know things will get heated fast but not in the naked fun way, not at first at least. I can't wait!

I loved this small, snowed-in town of demons from the first book in this series (Asher), so I was very excited to come back and get to know Asher's cousin Micah better!

I fell so hard in love with Camden, a completely scattered (very ADHD) succubus genius puzzle-maker who's come to Smalltown Demonville (not what it's actually called) to solve their ancient dragon door puzzle. There's a bit of a grumpy/sunshine vibe going on here, since Micah is rather begrudging about essentially being Camden's personal chaperone/chauffer while he's in town. (But is it really "grumpy" if you're just a demon with resting frownyface?)

Micah quickly goes from "What the heck, is this guy for real?" to "Yup, he's real, and I actually like his quirky weirdness." Camden has basically zero filter and just says what he thinks and is a hot mess walking (or stumbling and tripping over himself... haha). There's definitely some idiots in love vibes here as they both realize they're developing feelings for each other but instead of, y'know, talking about it, they both quietly agonize about how to convince the other to stick with them. LOL, lovable dummies.

This is the second book in the Demons-in-Law series and can be read as a standalone. That being said, all of Louisa Masters series in this universe (Hidden Species and Here Be Dragons) are pretty interconnected, and you'll have more fun with some of the cameos of MC from previous books/series as side characters here if you've read them all. If nothing else, read the first Demon-in-Law book, Asher, first, and this book also has some excellent lead up to book 3 (which I CANNOT WAIT FOR!!)

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are unbiased and my own.

Supernatural grumpy/sunshine

Micah is a demon, therefore perpetually cranky. Cam is an incubus all sunshine - clumcy and scatterbrained but hyper focused on puzzles. An ancient dragon puzzle door in the mountains above possibly the grumpiest town in Europe brings them together.

The puzzle solving got kind of glossed over, and the anonymous threat against Cam was there all along but really had nothing to do with the rest of the story and didn't really make a lot of sense. It was sort of shoved in there so that he could be conveniently in danger at the appropriate plot point.

An Entertaining Afternoon Read!

This is a paranormal queer romance, the second book in the “Demons-In-Law” series , it should be read in order after “Hidden Species” and “Here Be Dragons” series. I think this has to be one of my favorites of all three series; I absolutely adored Cam! I have had a blast reading and rereading these series; I highly recommend everyone of these books (and now want another reread)! This was an entertaining afternoon read!

RATING: 3.5/5

REVIEW: Ok, this was much much better than book 1.
One of the reasons I didn't like book 1 because of the bland characters and lack of chemistry, but here both were present. There was also enough backstory for me to feel connected to both of them, especially Camden.

Although plot wise it wasn't that eventful or exciting, I loved the characters enough to keep going and actually had a good time.

The book is generally fun with a hint of action and danger. In this one , the action and danger felt forced. Without lore from Cam's species in this universe he's just a guy. A fun guy with some depth, but he's not much, and I feel like there should be more.
It felt rushed and kind of phoned in. Maybe because we know nothing about succubi and incubi. It's a happy ending, but it's very abrupt.

Micah & Cam

This series is so much fun to read. Micah & Cam's story kept the entertainment going from book one and I loved it. I can not wait to get Zac and Ronan's story next.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

A little bit better than the first book, however, the lack of a complete plot bothers me. Yes, I know it's supposed to be built with the rest of the books but I don't know if I want to keep reading. It's boring.

3.5⭐️
A quick low-angst story. It was an ok read but I felt it’s missing something.
One would think that having an incubus would mean more smut, but it felt very medium-heat. In Gideon’s and Asher’s story, there’s talk about their horns, for example, whereas here we had very simple vanilla sex scenes. There’s no drama other than a quick scene of Damaris trying to matchmake Cam with Zac. The big reveal with the puzzle felt a big down since we don’t really get to see what was inside the cave - that’s for the next book, featuring Zac and Ronan.
Cam’s stalker, who spent months and months harassing him, was just “confused”? I don’t know how to describe it. The whole thing was wrapped up rather quickly. I wanted to see what happened to him and also, Lenny and his friend sister who was going to moving into Cam’s house.

OK but not the best in this series

This is OK. The first book is better, as are the other books in this world.
I have, however, figured out why Louisa Master’s supernatural books work when the Joy Universe series don’t, and it’s the reason I’ve given this book 3 stars, even though I enjoyed it. It’s because there’s no relationship development- all the relationships are of the Insta-love variety, and it isn’t obvious why the characters are attracted to each other. That works in this world, because it can be put down to the involvement of the Magic, but it doesn’t work when the characters are human.
So don’t expect any relationship development between the MCs in this one- they just suddenly decide they’re in love with each other. And have sex. It’s an interesting background story, but that’s the best bit of it.

So frigging good! Louisa has outdone herself with these two! Cam is the sweetest creature to ever exist , that you just want to squish and keep him forever, and wow, his chemistry with Micah is everything! This family is just so much fun! Their shenanigans are top tier just showing don't judge by species, such a great fun and entertaining read! Now to impatiently wait for Zach and Roman's story cause you know from the build up it is going to be something special.
