I got this book in order to look through the recipes, but actually they were my least favorite part. What I loved was that it has TONS of information on how to select, store, prepare, and cook every imaginable kind of food (except for meat, of course): fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, tofu, etc. I'm seriously thinking about buying it just because it's a great reference (for someone like me who can't possibly remember all of this), and just in case I ever want to make nut milk or decide to mess with an artichoke.

I got this from the library for recipe ideas, but this book turned out to be way more than that.

As someone who can barely cook, recipes always intimidate me. This book turned out to be perfect for me, because it actually explained how to do everything! Much of this book is explaining what certain cooking terms mean, how to pick out fruits and veggies, how to store them properly, etc. This is probably common sense for most cooks, but it's not for me. I really appreciated the extra information!

I copied down several recipes, but for me this truly was a handbook for how to cook. I'm so glad I picked this up!

I checked this out from the library to add some healthy recipes to my repertoire, but found a whole lot more! It is an excellent resource with information on 'how to eat an artichoke', 'how to select ripe melons', 'how to use tofu', and more. She includes descriptions of different kinds of rice and pasta and ways to cook a number of vegetables. I plan to actually try some of the recipes this week, but, even if I don't end up keeping any of them, the book was worth reading for the wealth of general cooking information.

Really great source of information about everything from how to buy, to how to store, and use a lot of large number of products. I am especially looking forward to trying some of the bean recipes.
