Jesse doesn't understand what all the whispering is about, but it must be something important. The arrival of Uncle Josh to live with his family gives Jesse a new hero to play with and talk to. When he learns that Uncle Josh has AIDS, Jesse takes part in the family's commitment to provide loving care during a difficult illness. Told with compassion from Jesse's point of view, Whisper Whisper Jesse, Whisper Whisper Josh is a valuable book for helping children bear the hurt of losing a loved one and for providing information on AIDS that can dispel their fears.
