This is a handy and focused guide for one wishing to take short hikes on Oahu. Those desiring longer hikes should consult another guide. Most of the hikes discussed are less than two miles long and will take less than two hours. Elevation gains are less than 500 feet. This book is complete and lists hikes along various parts of Oahu’s shoreline, the mountains, and some through urban Honolulu. It is well-organized with concise and clear directions to find the various trail heads. Illustrations are a big plus. I recommend this book to those wishing to see Oahu’s outdoors but with limited time and/or physical ability or for those looking for a hike to take children.
