This book is a picture book and is for ages 3 years old and up. The book is a bed time story about bugs who are getting ready for bed. They shower, brush their teeth, get goodnight kisses and hugs, and a bedtime story read to them before falling asleep. It also has recommendations if your having trouble falling asleep. This book is also a pop out book each page is coordinated to have a little pop out related. I rated this book five stars because I think it is a great book! It has many colors and details a child would love seeing and with all of the pop-outs it makes it so much more fun to read with a younger child. This book also could help a child understand the bedtime routine and maybe make it easier since the "bugs" are doing the same thing that the child would be doing. I would I would use this book when working with children to go over the bedtime routine and to see which kids have in common with the things the bugs do before they go to bed and why it is important to get a good nights rest.
This pop-up book started us on the path of having a “bedtime book” to signal lights off when we close the last page. The bugs play a bit, they have a bath, and then a little song. This pop-up book even has a lullabug within the book of the pop-up book!
My wee one loves Carter's Bug books. He got a couple for his birthday and a couple for Christmas and he is so delighted with them. They are his favorite books and our go-to gifts for him.
Not only is this a pop-up book, which are always cool, but this has moving pieces you can pull, tug and open too and make the bugs move.
I don't know why David Carter choose bugs as his character of choice, but he did, so these bugs dance. My nephew would have loved this. He would have taken this book during the day and pulled the paper to watch the bugs move over and over. I seen him slowly close the book and look inside to see how the shapes collapse between the pages over and over. A book like this would have occupied him for hours.
