James Agate wrote egos 1 to 9 before he died
He was a prolific writer principally regarding london theatre but he also kept harness horses for showing and also had many friends withing the literature and acting groups of the time .
He spoke and wrote french and much of his diary entries are in french quoting french writers . He expected his readers to understand and enjoy is quotes.
His diaries are full of gossip and amusing anecdotes and though published during the 2nd world war years on poor quality paper have lasted and are still available
